The quota for Huron 'County has
been pushed up $80,000 to $2,980,-
000 (exclusive of the air training
schools). The canvassers campaign
will begin on October 23rd.
Mrs. C, Heckendorn and sun 'Paul
have returned home after enjoying
a pleasant holiday at the home of
the former's parents, Rev. and Mrs.
Beese at Hamilton, also visiting with
relatives at Kitchener.
Rev. Ms. Grigg of Exeter will
preach on Sunday morning in the
Emmanuel Ev. Church, Zurich. The
evening service is withdrawn in favor
of anniversary services in Dashwood
Evangelical church. Rev. C. B.
Heckendorn, pastor at Zurich will be
guest speaker at Sebringville anniv-
ersay services.
Olwing to the reception meeting at
the Evangelical church Monday night
the Wornens' Institute will meet on
Thursday night at 8 o'clock, at the
home of Mrs. Meyers. Don't forget
to bring a, patch of cloth 9 inches

.. .Caroline Volland Passes
Caroline Volland, an aged and
highly respected resident or the Zur-
ich district passed away on Monday
in her 92nd year, after a lingering
illness. The funeral will be held on
Thursday afternoon, privately at" the
home, followed by a public service
at St. Peters Lutheran church, with
interanent in the Lutheran cemetery
Attended Celebration
Mr. Ivan L. Kalbfieisch was in
Sarnia on Friday, a guest of the
Polmer Corporation, at the celebrat-
ion whioh marked the first year of
production of synthetic rubber in
Canada. The (Eon. C. D. Howe, Min-
ister of Munitions and Supply was
present at the colorful evenC which
was also attended by other Domrnion
and American Government Officials,
leaders in the development or the syn
thetic rubber industry in North Am-
erica. The employees of PoIyiner
and representatives of many firms, as
well as the contracting firms, which
made the plant possible. Mr. Kalb-
fliesch attended in the latter capacity
as the firm of F. C. Kalbflesch &
Son supplied large quantities of lum-
ber and material for this great plant.

interested in Dungannon's 86th fall
fair. Indoor exhibits, although some-
what later in arx'iving, owing to the
bad weather, came in fairly good.

Goderich — There will not be an
open season for deer in either Bruce
or Huron counties this year, stated
