FACE INCREASED DUTIES • Let us brace ourselves to do our duty .and bear ourselves that if the British Commonwealth and Empire last for a thousand years, men will say "this was their finest hour," It was. during the dark and seemingly hopeless days of June 1940 that Win ston Churchill addressed these words to his people. Women in Red Cross have carried on loyally through the war years. As a result of the work Of Canadian women, the National Women's war work Cemnattee last year distributed over 13,000,000 ar- ides, more than 11,000,000 of whisk went overseas, and more than ,500,000 were intended for civilian elief ,overseas. With news of Allied ictories •overseas• and the great weep towards victory, there has ar- sen in the ininds of many women the dca, "the war is nearly over—we 50(1not do any Mere work for the ed Cross. Quite on the contrary, Imre is a greater need than ever .to - ay for faithful Red Cross women to mnplete their task. Women's War ork quotas are high; Ontario Divis- n of Red Cross is being asked for really increased quantities of hosp7 al dressings. There will be a teem ndous need for every kind of gar. lout when the Red Cross begins its ork ter the rehabilitation of Europe.
