enemy snipers. Some 150 resistance
leaders seized arms and began att-
acking Germans inside the city, as
American troops assaulted the town's
defence perimeter with anti-tank
guns.

turned to Prince Rupert after spen-
ding two weeks furlough at his hone
here.
Miss Jean Hiller of ,Sarnia rs vis-
iting with Miss Betty Geiser.
Mrs. R. Thompson of London, is
spending a few days here.
Theodore Luft, Mrs. Luft and
Bernice and Mrs. Elgin Merner and
Joyce spent a few days with friends
in Kitchener.
Miss Gloria Kraft has returned
after spending her holidays in Lon-
don.
Mr. Gordon Hooper of Toronto,
spent the, week -end with his mother,
Mice Hooper and sister, Mrs. E. R,
Guenther.
Mrs. Martin of Ingersoll spent the
week -end with Mrs. E. R. Guenther.

The regular meeting of the Coun-
cil v: -aa- held in the Council Chamber,
on the evening of August 1.1th at
8 p.m.. with all members present.
The minute., of the previous meeting
were read and adopted.
Reeve Shaddiek reported re the
County as stating the work on the
streets in the near future, also as
having a request to pump out A. L.
Case's well with both pumps for a
fire test. Sarre granted.

boquet of pink .gladioli and matching
flower arrangement in her hair. Miss
Joan Hill' of Hamilton, her brides-
maid, was: in floor -length pale blue
sheer, mat'ehiag flower arrangement
in her hails, and carried a bouquet of
pale yeltow- gladioli,, and her flower
girl, Margaret Allen; niece of the,
groom, was daintily frocked in meow.
