WILL TAKE REST Harvey McGee, Scotch ,comedian of the Auburn district, has retired from his picturesque E. Wawanosh farm and plans to take a well :earned rest wihch for the most part will be sp- ent in travelling his glens are. Known to thousands as the "Harry Lauder of Huron County," Mr. McGee has given liberally of his time and talent at literally hundreds :1rf lawn socials, church and p: trioit benefits, banqu- ets, concerts, etc., .over a period of 30 years and his -departure marks •a distinct loss to the community and far beyond. Mr MaGree made the im- personation of Lauder a life study and was never known to rehearse in the presence of anyone save his wife who passed on a short time ago and whose death prompted 'his decision to retire. At three score years his fine baritone voice, his hearty laugh and Lauder mannerism continued to cap- tivate crowds, has made no public ap- pearance since Mrs.. _McGee died. They have no children. Hunareds of farmers took'time off the harvest fields to attend the two-day auction. sale of the McGee effects last week and took occasion at the sarne time to pay a ,fitting tribute to their fellow citizen who had in his day been re- sponsible for the raising of many thousands of dollars for worthy caus- es. Over 700 individual cash sales were recorded during the two day sale.
