In last week's issue we made' men -

tion owing to illness and Mr. Lloyd
Hodgson,' of Centralia, has been ap-

The latter was appointed clerk in
1899 and held the position until 11943
when his son took it over. Mr. H. K.
Silber Is well posted in.. municipal

clerieal work that is demanded tol1y
has proved too. great a strain andi,Mr.
Eilber's health has been iml fired.
With a short rest he hopes to tee able

McBride—Rapson
The parsonage of the Ont. Street
United Church, Clinton, was the
scene of a pretty wedding when Rev.
G. G. Burton united in marriage,
Leona Grace, second daughter of Mr
and Mrs. Orval Rapson, Lonciesboro,
and Clare Gordon McBride, son -of
Mr. and Mrs. James McBride of
Stanley Township near Zurich. The
bride was lovely gowned in ivory
brocaded satin with lovely spring
flowers. Miss Hazel Rapson of Tor-
onto, was hes sister's bridesmaid and
carried a bouquet of white carnat-
ions and fern, Mr. Gordon.Johnston,
Varna, cousin of the bridegroom,
was best man. A reception was held
at the home of the bride's parents.
Later the bridal couple left Tor a
honeymoon, the bride travelling in
a navy blue tailored suit wit,, navy
and • red accessories.

SURPRIZE SHOWER
A very pleasant evening was spent
on Thursday evening at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clausius in hon-
our of their eldest daughter, :Leila,
("ride elect). About fifty friends
and neighbours gathered for the oc-
casion. The bride elect, was escorted
t. a decorated chair and presented
with a large number of beautiful
gifts. The address was read by Mrs.
Wes Hughill, responded by Leila.,
thanking in a. very pleasing manner
her friends and neighbours for the
gifts, The remainder of the evening
was spent in some very lively games
and contests, after which lunch -W. s
served.
