ROADS TO BE PAVED
With the Ontario lvlinister• of
Highways visiting this part of Ont-
ario this Wednesday, we were in
touch with Dr. R. Hobbs Taylor, M.
LA,, for this riding and he advised'
us that the Blue Water, Highway
from 'Bayifield to Goderi'ch and from
Grand Bend to Forest will be hard
surfaced as Soon as the machinery
can be set in motion, and the two
Highways No. 83 and No. 84 runn-
ing through Dashwood ,_and Zurich,
will receive a treatment of dust pre,
vention, something better than •the_
ordinary calcium chloride is expect-
ed to be used. It is some time since
any major work has been done on
Provincial roads in these parts, and
we must give much credit to Dr,
Taylor for his ; i,reless efforts in
bringing about these improvements.
We have also recently been informed
that the local patroling of the road
through Zurich has been changed
as Mr. Peter Eisenbach of 'Grand
Bend has been relieved of this por-
tion, and he takes care of the Blue
Water Highway as far north es
Bayfield now, while the roan through
Zurich, to Hensall and St. roseph, is
being taken care of by the patrol-
man of No. 4 Highway who resides
at Exeter. The patrolmen are being
given larger beets, hence this change

L"E ND A HAND" ON THE FARMS
Every citizen of Ontario must face the
unpleasant fact that Canada's stockpile
of grains, dairy products and vegetables
. of which we • had a great surplus
four years ago ... is almost exhausted.
For four years, Canada Jigs been a "store-
house of food" for her Allies. She must
continue to fulfil heavy obligations to
them. But the surpluses in the store-
house are gone. They must be replen-
ished. Otherwise, Canadians on the
Fighting Fronts ... and at home .. .
are likely to be faced with the prospect
of short food rations.
THIS YEAR the crops on Ontario
Farms give promise of the heaviest
yields of grain, hay, vegetables and fruit
in years.
BUT THEY MUST .BE HARVESTED
AND SAVED ... AND THIS IN
SPITE OF THE MOST ACUTE
SHORTAGE OF FARM WORKERS
IN OUR HISTORY.
EVERYONE MUST HELP!
JOINThe Farm Commando Brigades, the Holiday Brigades, Business
Men's Groups, Service Club Groups, Neighbourhood Groups, or
one of many other organizations, that are preparing to help. For three years such
organizations have supplied thousands of volunteers to Save Food for Victory.
This Year .Many Thousands More Volunteers Are Needed.
