Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the 1:111r -
on -Perth Liberal .Association was held
in the town hall, Hensall, Thursday
eve. June 8th, under the chairman-
ship of Dr. A. R. Campbell, presid-
ent. Russell Farrow, president of
the Western Ontario Liberal Associ-
ation extended gretings from that
association to the local organization
and spoke briefly on that organizat-
ion. One moment of silent prayer
was observed for out ,gaNiant boys
who are participating in the Invasion
of Europe. The financial statement
was given by Mr. Charles Fritz of
Zurich. W. IH. Golding, M. P., for
Huron -Perth spoke briefly and in
his remarks stated that the cost of
living has only increased 21/2 points
since our contaols • were established,
making an increase 'of about 18
points since outbreak of war. This
compares with an increase .of 56
points during the same period in the
great war of 19114-'18. Mr. Golding
introduced the guest speaker, Col.
Harry Hamilton, president of the
Ontario Liberal Association, of Ste.
Marie Who addressed the meeting.

served their 89th wedding annivers-
ary at their home on June 7th. They

The 67th anniversary of St. Pauls
Anglican church, the first church to
be built in Hensall, was held Sunday!
June 11 at 111 a.m. and 7•p.m, The1
special speaker for the day were Rev
E. S. Wells, B.A. of Ailsa Craig, and
Rev. L. E. Harrison, I3.A. of Lucan.
Lovely summer flowers macre an at-
tractive setting; Mise Ethel Clark
presided at the organ. For their
morning anthem the choir sang: 'Ex-
alt ye the Lord." Soloist, Mrs, T. G.
Robinson, Mrs. R. Dalrymple soloist
for the day sang in pleasing' style.
'When the World Forgets,'.' and for
her evening solo "Godhath not Pro-
mised." The evening selection by the
choir was "Be joyful in God." -Solo-

ist, Mr. John 'Henderson, The servic-
es were much enjoyed.
. At Carmel Presbyterian -church
Rev. Taylor occupied his awn pulpit
the morning service was In the form
of a special prayer service,. under
direction •of Miss .Margaret Dougall,
organist and choir leader the choir
sang "Hymn of Peate." Soloists, Har-
ry Dougall, Miss Margaret McLaren,
and Miss Margaret Dougall sang an
appropriate duett, "Empire. Prayer"
At the evening service •the A. F. and
A. M. Masonic Lodge 224 attended
in body and was addressed by the
Minister R. J. .E. Taylor, and • the
choir contributed an anthem 'Abide
with Me" Following the service the
brethern marched to their. lodge
room where speeches by visiting bre-
theen were given.

nounced Announcement — The en-
gagement is announced of Sara Mar-
garet, daughter of Mrs. Semi Manson
and the late Peter IVIaeison, Heneall,
to Thomas Hilton, sort of Thomas
Laing .arid the late Mrs. Laing, Exe-
ter. The marriage to take place qui-
etly in June.
Miss Marion Filshie, B.A., of Teo --
onto, was a visitor with friends in
the Village.
Mr.. and Mrs. John Passmore, of
Hensall, received word advising them
of the safe arrival at his destination
of their son, F.D. Gerald Passmore,
Mrs. 11 Walks, of Hensall, a great
lover of flowers, and who takes a
great interest in her flower garden,
has planted over 1,000 gladioli bulbs
up to date.
Mrs. Oliver Rowcliffe, a prominent
'resident of the Hensall district, who
reside,. a mile south of town on No.
4 Highway, underwent a serious ope-
ration it Victeeia Hospital, London,
on Tuesday last. Several blood trans-
fusions were given to her by Hensall
residents, and she is reported doing
as well as can be expected.

ently married have left on Thursday
'last for their new home in Zurich,
aftet epending their honeymoon in
London and other eastern points. We
join with our many friends in wish-
ing Harold and his beloved wife all
the happiness of life, for they sure
are wrathy of it.
