a success.
The new pump for the newly ar-
tesian well in town has been ordered
and the pipes are here to run a line
ever to the fire hall where the pres-
sure tank is located. The new pump
will have a capacity of about eleven
gallons per minute and then with the
old pump as an .auxiliary helper it
will produce about sixig,allons. So
when the job is completed we will
have about seventeen gallons of this
choice water per minute, which will
take a lot of drinking to swallow that
much every minute. Workmen are
busy ereeting a small pump house at
the new well Which is just, west of
the town hall, and in the matter of
time this work will be completed.
Building operations at the rebuild-
ing of the Kalbtleisch mills are pro-
gressing slowly. The fine new 60 -
foot brick stack is now 'completed
and is much credit to the Workmen
who took part, of these we take the
liberty of mentioning Messrs. Henry
Howald and Michael Meidinger who
did most of the brick laying, work.
One of these stacks properly erected
with good material used should last
for a long time and will not blow
over by the winds or 'burn out. Some
progress is being made in the erection
of the new engine room, as the old
bailer has proven hhn:self to have
withstood the fire ibetter than any-
ing else. Seemingly the final de-
• cision has not yet been made as to
the archecture of the new mill.
Bad Electric Storm
Last Wednesday evening a very
sever electric storm swept over
these parts at about ten :o'clock. The
thunder and lightning was intense
• and although there was no great
the south end of town, the bolt go-
ing down the window and was at-
tracted by the clothes line which led
it over to her other house occupied
by Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Wurm. Here
it landed in an outbuilding where
the Wurm family had a productive
'cluck hatched out fifteen chicks that
day. After the excitement was over
there sat the cluck on her nest with
the chicks under her and all were
'iitone dead.

thrilling as any detective story, this
new wonder-working extract taken
from the pituitary gland of cattle
adds inches or feet to one's height.
