FIGHTING WITH RUSSIA We may not realize it but we have been fighting with the Russians almost since the day they were at- tacked by the Germans. Winston Churchill recently told of the aid given the Rtssians by Britain ,5031 tanks, 6,778 airplanes, about $360,- 000,000 of raw materials. Some of this came from Canada. Canada has shipped large quantities of munitions and supplies to Russia under the Do- minion mutual aid program. No breakdown has been made of thic contribution hut goods shipped in- clude food stuffs, clothing, machine tools, railway equipment, strategic metals, military vehicles, guns, small arms„ and also ammunition, med- ical supplies and comforts. Some of the shipments from Britain contained goods made in Canada. The Russians have carried on the struggle in noble fashion and Canada may well be proud of the assistance the has giver! them. • - THE FISHING AT BAYFIELD Bay6eld fishermen report that trout and whitefish have returned to Lake • klaxon this year in fairly plentiful quantities after a lapse of several years, and that catches are ranging from two to six hundred pounds.
