FIGHTING WITH RUSSIA
We may not realize it but we
have been fighting with the Russians
almost since the day they were at-
tacked by the Germans. Winston
Churchill recently told of the aid
given the Rtssians by Britain ,5031
tanks, 6,778 airplanes, about $360,-
000,000 of raw materials. Some of
this came from Canada. Canada has
shipped large quantities of munitions
and supplies to Russia under the Do-
minion mutual aid program. No
breakdown has been made of thic
contribution hut goods shipped in-
clude food stuffs, clothing, machine
tools, railway equipment, strategic
metals, military vehicles, guns, small
arms„ and also ammunition, med-
ical supplies and comforts. Some of
the shipments from Britain contained
goods made in Canada. The Russians
have carried on the struggle in noble
fashion and Canada may well be
proud of the assistance the has giver!
them. • -
THE FISHING AT BAYFIELD
Bay6eld fishermen report that trout
and whitefish have returned to Lake
• klaxon this year in fairly plentiful
quantities after a lapse of several
years, and that catches are ranging
from two to six hundred pounds. One
veteran [fisherman expressed the op-
inion, based on experience, that the
trout and whitefish seasons travel in
Cycles of seven years. For several
years past the catches were practic-
ally nil. Catches of perch, :too, are
good and are expected to get better
:once the spawning season starts. The
Price is down a little as compared
with last spring, standing at 9'1/2 cts.
Most of the fish are going to Chicago.
-There-are ten licensed commercial
fisherrnen now operating out of Bay-
