The monthly meeting of the WMS.
was held in the church basement on
Wednesday evening May 10th, when
a birthday party was held celebrating'
the Goth anniversary of the WMS.
The meeting was in charge of the Y.
P.M:C. assisted by the Mission Band.
The basement was suitably decorated
for the occasion. Following the pro-
gram the societies met for their bus-
iness sessions, after which a dainty
lunch was served.

Mr. and Mrs. Pearce Farwell of
the Goshen line south, have received
a cable on Monday stating that their
son Fred who is in the Armed Forces
has arrived safely in Great Britain.
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bedard Sr.,
Miss Joan and Donald; Mr. and Mrs.
Dennis Bedard Jr., and children had
a very pleasant day in Woocrstock to
visit the former's son Prater Richard
Bedard who is attending Seminary in
that city.
Mrs. Lawrence Bedard and little
son, who have spent the winter with
Pte. Lawrence 'Bedard at Victoria,
B. C., have arrived in Zurich and ex-
pect to be joined by Pte. Bedard in:
a few days. They enjoyed the mild
winter immensely in the western
coast. But owing to Pte. Bedard
being shifted to Prince Albert they
have returned home.
Mr. and Mrs. Chester_ ,Smith,
spent Friday at 'Stratford. on business
and were 'joined by their . daughter,
(Viae from London in. the afternoon.
In the evening they attended the,
musical sacred concert which the Met
ropalitan United ChurchChoir of
London and of which Mae is a mem-
ber, rendered in the Kirkton United
Church, sponsored by the Red Cross
Society of Kirkton cornrnunity. Over
$135. were realized at the croor. Af-
ter the concert a banquet was served
to the entertainers .and their friends
in the basement of the church, at
which time another gift of $10. was
donated to the Kirkton Red Cross
from the members of the choir of the
11Ietropolitian church, London. After-
dinner speeches and community sing-
ing was enjoyed by all present.
TO GRADUATE AS DOCTORS
Among the thirty-four students
two of them women, who will grad-
uate from the University of West-
ern Ontario as Doctors of Medicine
on May 17 are Edward Henry Friel
Stewart, 'Seaforth; Walter George
Harding, Mitchell; Charles 'Borden
Sanders, Exeter. The latter has ob-
tained special scholarship honors.
Local. Red Cross
A Mother's Day Tea, in the inter-
est of the local Red Cross, was giv-
en by the .Home Economics girls of
the Zurich.Pu'blic School, in the Horne
Economics Room, on the afternoon
of Friday the 12th. Each grrl invit-
ed five guests, making a total of some
sixty present. Dainty sandwiches and
cake were made and served by the
girl's and samples • of their year's
