now and the canvassers are busy and
on the jump, in fact according to the
latest bulletin received from the Co-
unty headquarters Zurich and Hay
West is second top. Brussels being
in•first place and then Zurich and
Hay West. Keep up the good work!.

Goderich — Pleading guilty of
breaking and entering, and the theft
of a radio valued at $50 from the

20, a •Canadian -born Japanese, was
sentenced by Magistrate Makins

Police Court to 60 days injail

hard labour. Kawanami was. a'X.st-
ed at Hamilton on April 11 andgithe
radio was found in his possession.
Describingit as a stupid business,
Crown Attorney Holmes stated that
the accused had worked in the -dein-
ity last year and had been well lik-
ed. He had returned to the Coats
home, and finding,' no one there. re-
moved a screen from a cellar win-
dow and entered the house. 'Ph%
young man, in answering to a qUes-
tion by the court, said he was born
and raised in Vancouver. He is a
member of the United Church. •

Church conducted the ceremony and
Mrs. Alfred Melick presided at the
Piano:, The bride, given in rnarriage
fly her father, wore a floor length
gown of braided satin,. cut on prin-
esi lines, with a full skirt extending
into a. short train, and a tulle finger-
tip length veil with a head dress of
orange blossom. She carried' a bou-
quet of pink carnations and' maiden
hair fern. She was attended by
Iona . Rugill, sister of the groom,
wearing a floral length gown of robin
egg blue chiffon, and a matching
shoulder length veil. She carried a.
bouquet of mixed spring flowers.
Leroy Thiel, brother of the bride,
acted as best man. The reception
was held at the bride's home, the
bride's mother receiving the guests
in a lavender crepe dress with black
accessories and wearing a corsage
bouquet of yellow roses and -mauve
sweet peas; assisted by the groom's
mother wearing figured chilfnn with
black • accesnories. The coursage
bouquet was, of pink roses and pink
sweet peas, After a wedding dinner,thebridal. touple left for a short

Evangelical Church
The sessions of the 80th Annual
Conference of the Canada ,Confer-
ence of the Evangelical church- was
held at .Mildman the. past week with
the Conference Bishop Geogre Epp,
of Naperville, Ill., presiding. One of
the main transactions was the In-
creasing from four to five Districts
in the Conference, the Hamilton—
Ottawa district was divided with
Rev. A. C. Cau,ghell of Pembroke as
the new District Superintendent of
, the Ottawa. District. The other Dist-
rict Superintendents are tho same as
last year.. The changes of appoint-
ments are: Rev. F. 13. Meyer from
Attercliffe to Campden; Rev. Nor-
man Zurbrigg from Kitchener Zion
to Selkirk; Rev, J. S. Burn wom .Sel-
kirk to Dashwood; Rev. C. Becker
from Dashwood to New Hamburg;
