Have they all complied with the
Military Call -Up ?
By an Order signed under authority of the National Selective
Service Mobilization Regulations:
1. Every employer of male employees must make an examination
of the documents of these employees, and forward advice on
those who fail to produce documents showing good standing
under Mobilization Regulations.
2. This examination must be completed by May 1st, 1944.
3. "EMPLOYER" includes industrial and commercial employers,
and also farm operators.
.412 4. "MALE EMPLOYEE'° includes all male persons working for
you.
5. A booklet "EMPLOYERS' GUIDE," has been sent to industrial
and commercial employers. A return post card has gone to
farm operators.
6. If you employ any male person, and have not been notified of
the survey by booklet or post card, con tact the nearest Employ-
ment and Selective Service Office and ask for the booklet.
7. Workers in agriculture, of military age, who have not been re-
jected by the Army and who have not a Postponement Order
should. apply for such order to the nearest Registrar immedi-
ately.
3. Obligation to make the examination rests on each and every
employer of male persons, and employers must act.
9. Penalties are provided for failure to carry out this examina-
tion, and for male employees failing to assist by refusal to
produce documents.

Cpl. R. Lenehan who has been st
ationed in Italy wishes to thank the
Zurich Red Cross for their lovely

Flt. -Lt. Bartle Metz, son of Sgt.
and Mrs. R. Motz, •of Exeter; was
recently promoted to that rank over-
seas. He served in North Africa and,
now is acting as an instructor in

Gordon Rennie, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Milne R. Rennie of Seaforth,
Who graduated at Malton as' a navi-
gator, has received word that he has
been given a commission with rank
of Pilot Officer in the RCAF,
92 Yearl of Age
On • Friday of this week, April
21st, Mr. Daniel Smith will celebrate
his 92nd birthday. Mr. Smith has
•till considerable strength for his
age and his intellect is good. Mod-
erate living, regular resting hours at
night, and a balanced life he attrib-
ites to long livity. His many Zurich
'rinds join in congratulations.
Flies from Ottawa
Evelyn Il:oward of Ottawa,
visiting with her father, Mr. G. S.
loward, having been called home,
.,wing to the illness and passing of
her mother. hiss Howard flew from
Ottawa to London being fourtunate
in securing a seat as the plane was
about to take off. She reached the
London Airport in two hours and
25 minutes which included a stopov-
er in 'Toronto (Mr mother bad be-
come unconscious before her arrival.

DIED AT TORONTO
• Melvin James Torrance, G0, form-
erly active in banking orates and
latterly the brokerage business, died
pm Sunday at Toronto. As a young
roan he ,joined the staff of the Dom-
inion Rank of Toronto, and served
in iai+ious branches. He organized the
,Huron County Victory Loan driv;
during the Vint Great War. Was
a member of the well known. Torr-
ance family, who resided in the Zur-
felt district some forty 7,e-rs ago.
Surviving besides his widow are three
daughters, a. son, two 'brothers and
two sisters.

A lovely spring wedding was .sol-
ernnized at the, James St. United ch -
Mich manse, Exeter, when Rev. A.
B. •Irwin officiated for the marriage
of Margaret Ada Eleanore, youngest
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin
Wurm of near Hensall, and Gerald
Willis, only son of Mrs. Wilfred
Lawson and the late Mr. Lawson of
Exeter. The bridesmaid was Mrs. Ed-
gar Wurrn, sister-in-law of the bride
The groom's at'tend'ant was Mr Edgar
Wurrn, brother of the bride. Follow
inl;' the ceremony a wedding dinner
was served at the home of the bride's
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Beaver
of Exeter, with the immediate family
present. Later the young couple left
amid showers of confetti and best
wishes on a motor trip to Dorchester
Hamilton; St. Catharines and Tor-
onto.
