-The third meeting of the year of
the Council of Hay was held in.the
Council Chambers, Zurich, on. (Mon
day, March 6th, 1944. - _ The minutes
of the previous meeting v. ere adopt
ed as read. After which various, it

cussed. The following motions were

Motion 22-'44—That a barrel of
creosote be bought to be used for
preserving telephone posts. '

salary of the telephone foreman Of
Zurich and Dashwood be -made equal.
Motion 24'44—That each iPatrol-
man be notified that all snow fences
in his patrol be gathered to one spot
and not to be lent out for use by

Has Mission Rally
. Special Mission Services are obser-
ved in St. Boniface 'R. C. Church
this week, which is being conducted
by ,Redemptorist Father Murphy of
London, from Sunday March 12th, to
Sunday March 19th.- The attendance
is excellent and much good will be i
the rosult of these gatherings.
:As we go to press we learn of the
passing of a well known citizen and
business roan of Zurich, in the per-
son of -William C. Wagner, who pas-
sed on this Wednesday morning, in
his 741h year, after an illness of
some considerable time. The funeral
willbe hield privately from his late
home in Zurich on Friday afternoon
with 'Interment in St. Peter's Luth-
eran cemetery.

Mrs. Eli Desjardine Passes
'''!rare passed away on Saturday,
March llth at the home of her sis-
ter, Mr: and Mrs. Jacob Meidinger,
Hay 'township, a member of a well
known family ofthe district, in the
person of Mrs. Annie ,Siemon Desjar-
dine, widow of the late Eh Desjar-
dine, in her 63rd year, after an ill-
ness of several months' duration at
which time the patient did much suf-
fering. :She had been a resident of
Zurich the past few years, having
purchased a property here, moving
here from Bayfield where her husb-
and predeceased, most of their mar-
lied life had been spent in the West.
B-brn in Logan Township, she moved
with her parents, the late Mr. and
Mrs. George ;Siemon to the westerly
•part of Ha, Township where the
family grew up. Surviving are three
sisters, Mrs George Thiel, Hay Twp;
Mrs. Alex. Foster,London; Mrs. J.
Meidinger; four. brothers, Conrad
Siemon, Zurich; Fred Siemon, Blue
Water Highway; Harry Siemon, Lon-
don; August Siemon, Lansing, Mich.
A ,private funeral service was held. on
Monday from the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Jacob Meidinger, with inter-
ment in Grand Bend cem.oter, where
her departed husband is testing. Rev.
E. Iieimrich of St. Peter's Lutheran
'church, 'Zurich, officiated,
