FARM PAPER CATERS TO
.HOME DRESS MAKERS
:Hone dressmaking, the art of
"making over, making do, and using
what you have," is today practised
extensively in Canadian homes --for,
in wartime, it -is both patriotic and
economical to "make your own things
For some women, the making of
things at home began with sewing
for the Red Cross, later developing
into the making of simple household
articles and clothing for the family.
Most rural women always have made
some of their own and their children's
things, but, today, many are making
almost all garments. It is not sur-
prising, therefore, that the Fancily
Herald and Weekly Star reports it is
now furnishing more readers with
patterns than at any time in its 74
years of service. During 1943, over
100,000 orders for dress patterns,.
crochet .and embroidery patterns, etc
were filled.
