Large Tomatoes
Some very nice specimen of hoarse
grown tomatoes, and we notice in our
exchanges that some good big fellows
are being announced. So your pub-
lisher, who does not claim to be an
expert gardener, but, well, it just
happen that a good neighbor gave us
a few tomatoe plants ,last :sprhig and
it was on one of these that we pick-
ed a nice big fellow, and upon put-
ting it on the scales it weighed to
our amazement one pound and two
ounces. We would feel somewhat
humiliated if soaneone would bring
us a larger one, as this one really
was a dandy.

A Few Holidays.
Mr. and Mrs. Chester L. Smith,
accompanied by their. daughter Mae,
of London, spent several pleasant
days at .Rondeau Park, Lake Erie,
during the past week, and while there
they were also guests at the cottage
of D. and Mrs. E. M. Watson of
London. We also had the pleasure
of calling on Father L. W. :Power at
Ridgetown where he was appointed
as parish priest after leaving St.
Boniface parish, Zurich. We are
happy to say that Father Power has
very admirable surroundings at this
lovely town of about three thousand
inhabitants. A very lovely parson-
age with tbeautiful sxrrocandings, and
sure is pleased to see his .old friends
back in Zurich. Just before entering
Rondeau Park grounds, which greets
one with a lovely archway, we notic-
ed a sign "Ed's Place" and behold
here we met Mr. Ed. iStrathmeir, who
formany years conducted the large
booth at the Casino, Grand. Bend. Ed.
is the same genial fellow with that
natural twinkle in this eye, arid six
years ago went to Rondeau and built
his present store and resturan:t, and
is doing well, with a, barge patronage
foe loves to relate his first experience
at attending a fowl scupper at Zurich,
and after filling his rather large co
acity with fowl and all the go:
things to eat, he thought of the few
days that were to follow, so at the
auction sale he purchased three large
roasted geese, and his friend, Charles
Fritz of_ town, was also thinking of
Ed. and he purchased three similar
birds for Ed, and he told us "what.a
time they had at the Bend devouring
these six roasted geese." Those o-
re the happy days of the by-gorne'f,
