Have Closed Branch
The Varna Junior Institute held a
meeting in the township hall and de-
cided to close the branch for lack
of membership. 'The Institute money
waa donated to the following:, $10
to the jam for Britain Fund; $10 for
Chinese relief; $10 for smokes for
Britain; $10 for the Queen's Can-
adian Fund; $10 for British war
garments, and $10 to the local com-
munity gift fund, -

Goderich -- No time is being lost
by the Holeproof Hosiery Co. or -Can
ado in establishing its new branch
factory here and putting it into op-
eration. Two men from London are
superintending installation of mach-
inery in the former Dominion Road
Machinery Co. factory. Knitting op-
erations are beginning this week..The
Co. is giving former knitters living
n Goderich first opportunity to join
the staff.

if Mr. and Mrs. John Cornish, Bru-
eefield, who was reported missing,„af-
''.er air operations on June last, has
now been reported a prisoner of
war in Germany, wounded. He enlist-
ed in 11i941 and received his wings at
Mont. Joli, Quebec, as air gunner,
Dec. 1942, arriving overseas Feb. '42
i. K, Cornish, father of the ,young
airman, served for three and a half
:ears in the Great War and was;
'sounded in the Battle of. Amiens in
4,rrgust or 1918.
