Couple Honored by Family after
Fifty Years of Married Lie
A very enjoyable gathering took
place on Saturday, May 22n4, When,
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Laporte Who
reside just north of Drysdale, their
children assembled from far and
near to honor their parents on their
• golden wedding anniversary. Atnine
o'clock all met at St. Peter'schurch
where Father O. Martin celebrated
High Mass, after which ail went, to
the couple's home where a sumptu-
ous dinner bad •been prepared. The
tables sat 30 guests at a time, and
about 75 partook of the bgna

Laporte of St. Clair; Georgra, Jenine
Clair Laporte and Bernedette Maren-
eth of Detroit.
After dinner Master Charles Can -
tin, grandson, ably read a very suit-
able address to which Mr.. Laporte
replied with well chosen words. 11/Ir.
and Mrs. Laporte were 'blessed with
a family of 18, one having passed
away quite young. They are: Hector
of St. Joseph; Noel on the home farm
Edward of St. Clair; Marcil, Trefley
and Dennis, Mrs. Marenette, Mrs.
Wm. Geromette all of Detroit; Mrs.
N. A. Cantin, Mrs. D. Charrette, Mrs
T. Denomme of St. Joseph and Mrs
W. Corriveau of Zurich. All were
present. They were grandparents
72 times and great grandparents 4
times. Most of these being also pre-
sent; three being in the armed for-
ceS. Mr. Maxime Denomme and Mrs
Philip Denomme who supported the
couple fifty years- ago were again
present to again assist in the services
Four generations being present for
the day. They received many beauti
fill gifts, including a handsome purse,
of money. Guests besides the im-
mediate family were. Mr. and Mrs:
J. B. Laporte, Mr. and Mrs. Maxiin
Denomine, Mr. and Mrs.
rand, Mrs. Pheobe Rau. The day'
was spent in singing and mud.% ite
the evening all joined in the old tiine
dances so much enjoyed brall7Frencli

Salvage Collection
The paper, rags, and salvage coll-
ection by the scholars of Z. P. S.,
during the past week amounted to
$22.87, This is being turned over to
the local Red Gross, where it will be
used in their great work.
OBITUARY
Joseph Bedard, Sr, Passes
There passed away at. his home on
the Blue Water Highway, north of
St. Joseph, on Saturday, May 22nd,
Mr. Joseph Bedard', Sr., in his 8,3rd
year, Deceased' had been a lifelong
resident fn that parish and commun-
ity, was alwaysa very industrious
and' hardworking man, much devoted
to, has home and family, a good nei-
ghbor,alWays willing to give a help-
ing hand, and much interested in the
welfare of the community. The late'
Mr. Bedard was stricken ill while
vi:siting with his son Dennis at
two weeks ago, he was then re-
moved to Ms- own home where lie
!passed' peacefully away on Saturday;

;attended was held on Monday morn -
