LETTER FROM OVERSEAS
Mrs. William Thiel from town re-
ceived the following interesting let-
ter from Gunner Vincent Smith,
Who is in England and formerly from
the Zurich district.
Dear SeNwhh.se, rTe Eg not. April 10'4d
hiel
I received your most
'welcome parcel today and I -decided
to answer it immediately; so that
you might understand that I appreci-
ated :the .kindness of you and the Red,
Cross Society. You know, it was not
the parcel alone' that brought • the
gladness to my''heart, but it was the
knowledge that you people back
there, were and are thinking of me.
It is such kindnesses as these that
drive us people over here, to what
must be a soon and sure victory. As
the boys ...of my outfit say: "Back
home they :didn't let us down, so
how can we fail." Well, Madam, 1
suppose you, are going to say "My
what a short letter" but it is now
mail time and I should like to get
this out today. I am sure, Mrs, Thiel,
in your kindness you will pass this.
little message of thanks on to the
other members of the Red Cross and
tell them itmaybe a .short word of
thanks but it comes from the bottom.
of my 'heart. I shall close now, but
again I say "Thank You All." I
remain Sincerely,- Vincent.—C10636
