Culvert Washed Out.
Owing to the heavy rains the large
culvert on the Bronsin Line, IA:
miles south of the Zurich Road, was
completely washed out, as the earth
is airn away for twenty feet on each
side of the culvert. It will take
some tall planning by the engineer
and Hay Council just what to do. In
the meantime the road is closed to
traffic.
TO GET THEIR CHANCE
London, War Secretary Sir James
Grigg said in the House of Commons
that he trusted impatient Canadian
soldiers here "will not have to wait
much longer for a..'mass attack on
the enemy. The Can. Army in Brit-
ian had been held by delay in eng-
aging thernselves in bulk against the
enemy.

Mrs. Melvin Brown received word
from her brother, Pte. David Mey-
ers who is in active service some-
where in England, that he received
the box of cheer which the Red Cross
had sent him at Christmas, O. K., and
wishes to greatly thank the Society
very much for their thougtr•tralness,
as everything was appreciated and in 1
perfect order when it arrived. He
also mentioned that the fields in En-
gland look encouraging, as the crops
are almost all in good growing con-
dition. This seems to be earliethen
our Canadian climate, especially' in
this delayed season.
RESERVING your property from
deterioration against time and
weather, with the best paint, be-
comes a patriotic duty under
present conditions; you avoid fut-
ure repairs and replacements
supplies for which are badly
needed for war use and may in
any case be difficult or impos-
sible to get.
There are sufficient supplies of
Sherwin-Williams Paints in your
dealers' stores to meet essential

Shortsighted Economy
Skort-sighted saving has kept many business men
in the rut of toilsome grind all their lives and in
many instances landed them in bankruptcy. Caut-
ion must of course bee exercised.
In the present disturbed conditions, few business
people can afford to sit down and accept what
comes; if they do they will gradually drift into the
limbo of forgotten things.
Advertising has therefore proved itself a necessity
and the logical medium for this advertising is your
Loyal Newspaper. The one that heralds all the local
'doings into every horne.. Nothing can compete
with it for home publicity. Try It!
