Reeve Shaddick spoke, to which Ken
made a fitting reply. There were 40
present.

The regular monthly meeting of
the Council of the Township of Hay
was held on Monday, May 3rcl, with
all members present. Minutes of the
April meeting were adopted as read.
After disposing of the communic-
ations the following resolutions we-
re passed:
- That the sunt of $2000.00 of Hay
Municipal Telephone System money
be invested in. 4th Victory Loan.
That the sum of $1,000.00 of
Township of Hay moneys be invested
in 4th Victory Loan.
That Workmen's Compensation in-
surance with A. E. Wilson Co., be
renewed for another year.
That no snow fence be lent out
to any person and that all fence be
returned to the nearest patrolman at
once as provided by the Department
of Highway of Ontario.
That the following patrolmen be
apointed : Rd. 1 E. Campbell, R.
Munn; Rd. 2 C. Aldworth, W. Cole-
man, G. Dick, E. Willert; Rd. 3 C.
Aldworth, A. Mousseau; Rd. 4 A.

Mr. Ross Gascho has left for Lon-
don. where he has taken a position
with National Groceries, Ltd.

Billy,, visited with relatives and fri-
ends in. London on Sunday.
A Bingo and Dance sponsored by
the local Red Cross will be held in
the local Town Hall, on Thursday
evening, May 13th.
Mrs; Lydia Gingerich. has returned
home after spending a few weeks
with her sister, Mrs. P. liropf of
Wate„ico,
Mr. nd Mrs, Louis Weber and
Donnie spent two weeks at London,
with tlie former's daughter, Miss
Clara ,Veber.

and fara ily of London, visited at the
home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs,
Henry Howald on Sunday.
Miss Beira Truemner of London,
and Miss Lois Gaiser of Dashwood,
spent Stinlay at the former's parents

Mr. Ross Johnston who has had an
operation performed at Clinton Hos-
pital, has returned to his home, his
many friends wish him a speedy re-
covery.
Mr. Roger Truemner of Toronto,
who has been ill at the home of, his
Uncle and Aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
S. Johnston, since Easter, has recov-
ered and returned to his home.
Patriotic Meeting
The meeting held in the local Town
Hall, on Thursday evening in the in-
terests of the Fourth Victory Loan,
was a great success. Mr. David Du-
charme acted as chairman and gave
n very eloquent address as his op-
ening remarks. Followed by Dr. Cam-
pbell of Hensall and Reeve. Arm-
strong. Mr. Jeffrey of Clinton being
the guest speaker, delivered a very
inspiring address. The public school
scholars rendered several song select-
ions, accompanied by Mrs. Harry G.
Hess at the piano. Moving pictures
were shown of the war at Russia and
Japan. Mr. W. H. Edighoffer thank-
ed the speakers and all those that
took part to make the meeting a suc-
cess.
