ing up nicely, although there is some
reports of bad spots where the frost
is coning out, but the graders are
busy shaping up the roads as best
they can,
The Ladies of the Evangelical
church, Zurich are holding a Rum-
maa'e Sale in the Town Hall, on
Saturday April and There will be
oi'fered home made baking and ap-
rons, your patronage will be. appre-
ciated.
On Saturday afternoon, April 3,
llr. Andrew Thiel of town is holding
an auction sale of household effects,
and on April 9, there will be a sale.
Mr. Lorne Gingerich is holding an
auction sale of farm stock and Impl-
ements on his farm, Babylon line,
having rented his farm to Mr, Ervin
Bender.
Farm Forum
The Farm Radio Forum which was
held at the home of Mr and Mrs. Wm
Decker and takes in the area of S.S.
No. 7, Hay Twp., concluded their
program for the winter months on
March 29th. All expressed themselves
that these meetings are well worth
while, giving much pleasure and
help to create a community spirit.
At the meeting held at the ,home of
Mr. and Mrs. Fred. J. Haberer, the
previous week, the ladies finished
the work on a quilt for the Red
Cross. Lunch beinga, regular routine
and which is always enjoyed, after a
number of hours' of hard wark and
play, calls far the need of washing
dishes, quite a number of the men
members have shown themselves real
handy at this work, and take a great
pride in their work of washing dish-
es, •pots and pans. After the general
cleanup the members all join in sing-
ing the National Anthem.

HERO OF DIEPPE
The Canadian Broadcasting Corpora-
tion has sent over a hundred of its
members into the armed services.
Several have given their lives in ac-
tion, two have received awards for
distinguished service --- Commander
W. E. S, Briggs, R..N.R., and M.ajoa
George Alleyne Browne, of the Roy-
al Can. A.rtilier-y, shown herewith.
Major Browne, whose hoarse is in Ot-
tawa, was a captain in the raid on
Dieppe. He was wounded, captured
and imprisoned. He es.1aped in
company with Lieut. A. Masson, o:f
Les Fusilier's Mont -Royal. Both young
Canadian officers reached England
safely a few weeks ago. 1Major Brown
has since been awarded the distingu-
ished service. order. He was of the
OTIC announcing staff at Ottawa be-
