We Shall Have Taxes
Assessor W. H. Edighoffer or :Hay
Township is making his rounds and
that means that there' will be taxes
collected in the fall, and when we are
speaking of taxes, April is the month
of Income Taxes, and if you have the
required income and do not make
out your tax forms and send ahem in
with your remittance, well, it will be
too bad. Remember if your net in
come for a single person is over $660
or a married person over $1200 You
must make out your papers. The
local Municipal assessor advises us
that he is raising most of the asses-
ments somewhat, and if he has•not
raised yours, well perhaps he does not
like you well enough to grant you
this favor.

BAYFIELD
Had Bad Flood
With a roar and a bang the Bay-
field River broke up at five o'clo:ck
Tuesday eve. last causing the worst
flood on .the flats in 15 years. The
water rose to a height of five feet
on the fish shanties on the north side 1
of the river, before it found an
outlet over the piers. None of the
buildings were damaged but when
the water subdued it was found that
everything inside the shanties were
turned upside down and the nets we-
re full of crud. L. McLeod, Hayfield's
veteran fisherman, says .that awill
et
them back two weeks cleaning
thing, up., he never saw the water iso
gh, slid was :at the river with a
oat in readiness for an emergency.
He succeeded in drawing .some boats
o safety with his rowboat. Despite
the fishermens' ,effoits, isome damage
as done by the huge: cakes of ice.
number of fishing boats were dam -
°'ed fiat.;bottoin boat belonging to.,
Teleord escaped and was carried
ut into the lake by the sarong cur-
ent. A Hydro pole broke off and
e wires snapped. A heavy fog which
rose ,obscured the view. With the
outh of the river cleared the water
(keen nalmost as quickly as it
d Aeon leaving huge cakes of see
the land.
