FAIR DATES SET
The executive of the Bayfield Ag-
ricultural Society met on the 25th
of February and decided to hold their
annual Fall Fair on Tuesday and
Wednesday, September 28th and •29.
Prize lists to be out by July 1st,The
annual masquerade and donee wrtl be
held in the Town Hall, Bayfield on
Wednesday April 28th. The net
proceeds to be donated to the Red
Cross.
Appointed Postmaster
Mr. William A. Siebert has receiv-
ed word from Ottawa that he has
been officially oppointed as Post-
master for Zurich. Mr, Seibert who
is considered a very efficient man
at the work, has been practically
running the local post office for the
past eleven years, and previously he
served about four years on the Can-
adian Mail Department, drstributing
mails on the railway trains. We are
pleased to announce that Mr. Siebert
has been permitted to continue on
in the Zurich Postofiice.
SUCCESSFUL COURSE
The farm machinery school whchi
was held in the Township Hal,1 Var-
na, recently under the auspices of
the Ontario Department of Agricult-
ure, Clinton, was largely attended (by

' The warden's committee of Huron
County council which has charge of
the allotment of patriotic' funds has

Voss Society. The 'suni of $500 was
voted -to the Queen's Can. Fund for
Air Raid Victims and ;8500 to the
British War Victims Fund. The pro-
perty committee decided to redecor-
ate the main courtroom .of -the court-
house.

Auto Accident/
Monday During swirling the storm
afternoon onlast, when
was practically zero, hree Exeter
people were injured in a motor coll-
ision a mile or so north of Birr. Mr
Charles Mason and Mr and Mrs. Jno
Cox were returning from London,
when their car collided head an with
a truck belonging to T. W. Wrighton
of London, and driven by A. Lucas,
of that city. Mrs. -Cox was seriously
injured while the injuries of Mr Cox
and Mr. Mason were not so bad. Mr Mrs. Cox were both removed to
St. Joseph's Hospital, London.
Farm Forum
The Unique Farm Forum press
correspondent regrets omitting last
week's report in the paper. The
meeting was held at the home of Mrs
E. Krueger with a very good attend-
ance. fir, Alf. Melick was the guest
speaker. He spoke very ably and
from experience on the subject on
the subject. Mr './'hos. Meyers was in
charge of a Geography Contest after
which a delicious Lunch was enjoyed
by all. On Monday evening, iMlar,
8th, the Unique Farm Forum met
at the home of Morris Durand,
Roland Geiger spoke on problems of
the Horne .Market. After which be
took charge of group discussions. The
Porum almost unanimously believe
that the Co-operative is the only so -

the day. He was born in Scotland,
coming to- Canada when six years of
age, and with the exception of a
few weeks spent in the west, has
been a continuous resident of the
Brucefield district. During the sum-
mer months he spent part of the
time with relatives in Hensall. Wal-
ter McBeath, of the 'Tuckersmith
Telephone System, is a son, and Mrs
John R. Murdock, of the 2nd con-
cession Stanley Twp. a daughter.
NEW COACH APPOINTED
Miss Helen McKercher, of Sea -
forth, who has been the
ient Home Economics coach under
the Ont. Dept. of Agriculture for the
Counties of Perth, Wellington, Mid-
dlesex and Dufferin for several years
has entered the service of the Wrens
and has reported to Galt for train-
ing. She will be succeeded by Miss
Marjorie ICarroll of Mitchell, whose
fatherthe high vschoolaatrMitcheloll is lprincipal Car-
roll who received ,her public graduat-
school education at Mitcell, graduat-
ed from Macdonald Institute, Guelph
and received her Bachelor of Huse -
hold Science degree at the University

HELPED TO RESCUE EDDIE
RICKENBACKER
.Lieut Wm. J. Hall, son of a Hen -
sail native, has been identified as the
marine medical officer who played an
important role in the epic rescue of
Capt. Eddie IRickenbacker and his
party from the Pacific. Lieut, HalI,is
credited with saving the life of one
of the party and tending two others
after being flown to •the lonely Pac -
ificc island where some of Ricken-
backer's crew had been tossed ashore
His mother is the former .Rose Yung.
Mutt, daughter, of the late' Geo. Yun-
gbiutt, She ' married Joseph H. Hall
of 14c'tees 'Mock., Pa., in Homan,
and lived them for some years after
her marriage. Lieut Hall is a nephew
of Mrs. James W. Bonthron, of Hen-
sail and cousin of Pte, .Harold Bon-
thron, at London
