ceived news from the Old Country
that his three sisters were killed in an
air raid on Scarborough, Yorkshire,
England.
BAD BUSINESS
Four motorists in Goderich and
nearby Colborne Township have been
deprived of the use of their cars by
the lifting of their gasoline ration
books, Prov. Constable F Fox said,
The books had been abused, it was
said, by loaning them to friends and
the fact that some were found in pos-
session of loose coupon.s not belong-
ing to the owner's book. ,Curcum-

other unavoidable circumstances the
Ration Administration estimates that
many ration book holders failed to
obtain their No. '2 Ration Book dur-
ing the eight day period specified,
between Feb, 119 and March 1.st. To
assure that every person eligible for
ration book is able to secure the new
book the Administration has made
special arrangements, Those who
have not yet secure d Ration Book
No, 12 should fill in the application
card at the back of Book No. 1.This
card must bear the holder's name
and address and serial number, in-
cluding both letters and numerals,
clearly and correctly. Don't forget
tlie prefix and serial number which
you retain for the duration. This
card should be mailed to the nearest
Ration Office Which for this district
is W. C. Pickard, Secretary, Exeter,
Ont. If you missed your book get
in touch with said official.
In County Court
In the spring assizes of the sup-
reme court to have opened on Mon-
day last before Mr. Justice J. C.
Makins there was only one non -jury
action. This action was transferred to
another court for hearing. There was
no criminal cases. Charles R. David
sop, Brussels trucker, sued the cor-
poration of the County of Iruron for
$13,547.91 damages allegedly receiv-
ed when a county bridge, which spans
a creek on the county road just south
of Ethel, collapsed on May to, 194?
The driver and truck were thrown in-
to the stream. The plaintiff alleges
that the collapse of the bridge and
resulting injuries and damages were
caused solely by faulty construction
or lack of proper repair or both, and
arso improper inspection is alleged.
Davidson is said to have saffered 0
fractured vertebra and ankle and
other injuries,,
