She did not return tin Tuesday.
ATTENDED BY TRACTOR
A rather unique method was used
in attending the Babylon line. Farm
Forum on. Monday, when Mr.' Oscar
Grab started out with: ,his Fordson
tractor and .picked up the passengers
mens and women along the lin ,eight
in all, and attended the greeting held
at the home of Mr and .Mrs, Wm.
Leibold,
Injured His Leg.
One day last week while Nix, A, F.
Hess, our local Township Clerk, Con-
veyancer, etc., was returning home
from his duties at his office, he in
some way fell on the ice and injured
his leg. Mr, Hess who nowhas the
limb in splints, is unable to copse to
hiS office down town, but does what
work he can at the house.
Farm Forum
The Babylon Line Farm Forum
met at the home of Mr and ,Mrs. Wm
Leibold on Monday evening with an
attendance of 34. The subject for: the
evening was "Taking Stock of Farm
Life." Next week the radio broadcast
and discussion will be on "The Farm
as a Producing Unit." .Miss Dorothy
McDonald will conclude her talk on
"Larger Units of School Administrat-
ion. Mr. Anthony Etue will speak
on Co-operative Purchasing." Eve-
rybody come to the home of Mr and
Mrs. Oscar Greb, Feb. 15th, at 8.30
p.m.
Farm Forum
On Monday evening the Unique
Farm Forum met at the home of Mr.
Clarence Schade. The radio broad-
cast was on the topic "Taking Stock
of Farm Life." Mr. Thomas Meyers
gave a very interesting talk on the
same subject. He stressed making
farm life more interesting for farm
young people, to encourage then to
stay in the farm. After group dis-
cussions the members decided that
our community falls terribly short.of
providing suitable entertainment for
our young people. Thus they seek
entertainment far from home or else
get into mischief. Also they -lett that
something should be done right now
to make it possible for farmers to get
Hydro on their farms. The next
meeting is to be held at the home
of Delbert Geiger, with Delbert as
speaker. Everybody welcome.,

OBITUARY
Mrs. John Torrance Passes
Surrounded by all members of her
family Mrs. John Torrance, resident
of Clinton passed peacefully away
on Jan. 29th at her temporary home
in Toronto. Deceased had been in
Toronto with her daughter Miss
Maude, since November and became
ill in December. The remains were
brought to Clinton where the funeral
was held by Rev. A. Lane of Wesley
Willis church of which she was a
member, interment followed in the
family plot in Bayfield Cemetery.
Two daughters Miss Maude and Mar-
garet, Mrs. Geo. Foote, Port Arthur,
and three sons, John of Lethbridge,
Melvin and Alfred of Toronto remain
to mourn her loss. She was mormerly
Joanna McDonald of Bayfield, was
married at Bayfield in 1876 to the
late John Torrance. They first lived
at Varna later east of Zurich, on the
fine farm now owned by Mr. H. H.
Neeb and sons, and went to Clinton
in 1903, and had a wide circle of fri-
ends at all these places. The duality'
of her motherhood her selfish concern
for then and the sweetness of her
character won in a very unusual de-
gree the love and pride of all who
knew her.. Mr. Torrance who wa
well known in the County of Huron,
holding many public offices, prede-
ceased Mrs. Torrance in 1928.

PRESERVED, PACKED AND SHIPPED
Farmers, fishermen and stock -raisers would labour
in vain to supply food to the United Nations, were
it not for the added labour of those who prepare,
preserve, pack and ship the food.
Thousands of Canadian men and women are doing
a most necessary job of convertin live And raw
products to usable, transportable food for millions
of fighting nnen and civilians overseas. In estitnat-
ing the value of various tasks in the total war effort,
much credit should be given to the workers in the
canning, dehydration, curing, packing, refrigerating
and shipping industries.
41,
"Bacon for Britain"? Yes, but also canned salmon
and dried fruits and evaporated milk for Britain and
out allies overseas. 44
The Bank of Montreal is working with all war -time
industries and their workers by supplying the kind
of banking service needed --through hundreds of
conveniently loeated branches.
