Over in .Davenport, Ia., a sow on
the Floyd Metzger farm bore 27 pigs
and nn official of. the U. S. Dept. of
Agriculture exclaimed, "Wow that's
ai miracle." Not even in that great
hogproducing state had such a litter
been previously reported. They have
had reports of sows 'bearing 19 and
21 pigs, but nothing like 27, th;
same official said.

by the Association, and some are
thinking of raising it to $12.550 a year.
The London daily paper recently
raised to $7.00 a year, and if you
live in Zurich it will cost you over
$9.00 a year. And everybody has
their own problems these days, and
please don't think a newspaper pub-
lisher hasen's any. So please don't
forget the Herald is now $1.50 a
year.
Forces in Action in 1943.
Ottawa - Prime Minister King in
a New Year's message ,broadcast,
warned the Canadian people that "all
our armed` forces" will be in action.
during 1943 and that they "must 'be
prepared for heavy losses.."
Somehow these typographical err-
ors are bound to slip througn ,regard-
less how careful one tries to be. Last
week in announcing the birth of 7a
son to Mr and Mrs. Leonard Wag-
ner mention was made of this being
the first baby ;born in 1934, 'this
should have, been .1943.

Died at. Pigeon, Mich.
' 'Word has been .received here of
the death of Mr. Philip Sippel who
died at Pigeon, Mich., some time a-
go; IVIr. Sippel - was nearly ninety
year,, old and lived the early part of
his life in Zurich, having been en-
gaged years ' ago as a pumpmaker,
and while living in Zurich he built
the• brick house now occupied by the
publisher of the Herald. Mr. Sippel
was a man of wonderful phisicique
in his prime and had the strength of
several ordinary men in a lift. He
left these parts for Pigeon, a goodly
number of years ago where he lived
retired.

_A canvass by. the Zurich Bible So-
•eiety has recently been made and
in most cases the canvassers have
handed in their returns and the local
organization is 'very grateful to the
public in general who have the cause
at heart, for the fine response given.

{ OBITUARY
It was with much sadness ,last We-
dnesday morning that people of that
district of Brucefield and Seaforth
learned of the passing of the Rev. W
A Bremner in Victoria HosprsaT, Lon
don which he had entered a week pre
vious for .an operation. •He was born
in Scotland ih 1'867, and came to
Canada when 7 years old. Received
his early :education at Owen Sound
and attended that Collegiate,and lat-
er the Toronto University and Knox
College., graduating in 1901. He was
pastor at .Bracebridge, at Ripley and
St. Thomas's then at Cobourg, :and
then to Bruceffeld where he served
for eleven years, retiring to Seaforth
lar 1938, besides his widow there are
two slaughters survive. At the time
of his death. IVIr Bremner was emir-.
man of public school board and secy
of Huron .Presbytery of the United
church. In.1936 he was elected Pres-
ident of the London Conference of
the United Church He was a true man
of God anthwill long be remembered
in the hearts of his people. A private
service was held at the residence,' at
•Seaforth on Saturday afternoon with
interment following at B.airdl's cem-
etery, Brucefield.
