NEW AUTO LICENSES
Toronto — Ontario's 1943 motor
vehicle licenses will go on sale on
January 4 and must be btained by
Februay 2S, Hon. McQuestion, min-
ister of highways, said Though the
term of the 1942 license has been
extended to •Feb. 28, as in other pro-
vinces, Ont. has found it impossible
to accede to the requestion of the
oil controller to -alter the term of
vehicle permits to coincide with that
of gasoline rationing coupon books,
which are now renewable until Mar.
31st. Such a change would have a ser
ions effect on the budget for the cur-
rent fiscial year, he said. The Dept.
will co-operate with the ail controller
in the issuenace of ration books next
year, so that present ration books
may be valid for use with new 1943
permits. The present ration books
will be valid until expired, when they
will be replaced .by the new books.
Ration books for 1948 will be availa.-
.ble sometime in February.
