Bloomfield was remanded ta jail for
one week. Two Clinton. bays were
charged with trespassing at night.The•
crown attorney said they were found
in a barn where the owner laid in
wait. Some of his stock having been
injured mysteriously recently. The
accused said they were after pig-
eons was fined a dollar and costs and
given .a stern lecture. Two men of
the defunct Goderich Iron and Brass
Foundry, charged under the Master
and Servant Act, failed to put in an
appearance and other measures will
be taken to bring them to court. The
crown attarney told the court "very
substantial sums of money have been
paid to the employers, but they in
turn have not paid their employees

from the Royal Canadian Air Force
casualty officer overseas. Harold was
one of the crew of an aircraft which
failed to return to its base after be-
ing shot down by enemy action near
Akyab, Burma. The aircraft rs belie-
ved to have fallen into the sea. Dur-
ing the two and a half years that
Sgt. Elliott has been in the oservice
he has had a thrilling and varied car-
eer. He enlisted with the RCAF in
midsummer in 1940, and went to
Manning Pool, Brandon, Man. Later
he trained at Calgary and Prince Al-
bert, and in July 1941, received his
wings at Saskatoon. After spending
10 days' leave at his home he was
transferred overseas. After further
training in England, as a pilot ne left
for the Eastern front, was at Singa-
pore for Christmas and when it fell
he caught the last boat out from the
harbor before the city fell. He seem-
ed to keep just one jump ahead of
the Japs for he was at Palenbang,
Sumatra when that city fell and just
managed to get away before the Japs
entered. From Sumatra he went to
Java, and it was at Java tnat he had
an experience that nearly cost him
his life. His plane went down in the
jungle and he had to fight his way
out. Suffering from thirst and hung-
er, he managed to escape by boat to
Ceylon. From Ceylon he went to In-
dia, arriving at •Karachi in April last
Following that he spent six weeks
recruperating in the Himalaya Moun
tains, and sinee that time had been
in India. He was born in Oil •Spr-
ings, on Dec. 2, 1918, and came to
Exeter with his parents 14 years a-
go. eH received his educatiou at the
Exeter schools and was a member of
the Band and before enlisting was
associated with his father at the
Ford Garage. Howard, a brother, is
a corporal in the army at Barryfield.
There are three sisters, Hazel, Reg.
N. at Preston Springs Hospital and
Marion and Jean at home.

Ifospital, London. Mrs, Heist has re-
trned to her home and is greatly
improving in health, which her many
friends are pleased to learn. Mrs.
Hist is the mother of Mrs. Harry
G; Hess, of Zurich.
Mr. Solomon Bechler of the Bron-
son line, Hay has purchased from
1 -,Tr. Robert Baker, Hay, the 28 -acre
grass farm being part lot 18, N. B.
Hay. Immediate possessiion is being
given., This will be used as a grass
farm and Mr. Bechler is offering the
barn for sale.
Dr and Mrs. J. A. Addison and
children of Sudbury, and former re-
sidents of Zurich, were house guests
at the home of Mr and Mrs Ward
Fritz the past week. The former
have moved to Clinton their former
and-fainily now are at London, was a
visitor in town an Sunday. Morris
was the former manager of the Zur-
ich Creamery, and after leaving Zur-
ich he did various work in London,
until he enlisted with the RAF. and
has for some time been stationed at
Camp Borden, and now has been
transferred to the Clinton Military
Air School, working in the capacity
as plumber and fireman of the heat-
ing plant.

Only 13 more shopping days till
Christmas, one can hardly realise of
the nearness to the Ruletide season.
The stores of Zurich have made spec-
ial efforts and preparation to meet
this occasion. Many articles are
hard to purchase, and a merchant
must long before make preparations
to put in a stock to satisfy the pub-
lic. Make this Christmas season a
happy and a merry one by giving of
many useful gifts which these mer-
chants are offering. Visit the stores
as often as you can and your shop-
ping will be made easier.

Parkins—Mousseau
A very quiet but pretty wedding
took place at St. Peer's Ev. Lutheran
Church, when Rev. Heimerich united
in Holy Weddle& Norma Katherine,
eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Her-
bert Mousseau of Zurich to Henry
Murray James, son of Mr and Mrs.
James Parkins of Hensall. The bride
looked charniing in a white lace .floor
length dress in •Princess stiple with
net panel inserts forming a long train
wearing a tiara .fingertip veil 'scatter-
ed with white baby mums, carrying a
white 'bible with streamers tied with
blue maraotla forget-me-nots. The
only ornament was a locket, the gift
of the groom. The bridesmaid look-
ed pretty wearing ice blue sheer floor
length dress, carrying a bouquet of
pink carnations and a garland of
white baby mums in her hair. The
bride's aunt and uncle, Mr and Mrs.
Garnet Walper of Detroit, were the
attendants. The gift to the grooms-
man was a gold collar pin and tie
clip, to the bridesmaid, a cameo lock-
et. After the ceremony, dinner was
served at the bride's home. After
which the bridal couple left for Tor-
onto and other eastern points. The
bride travelling in a green Boucle
coat with black accessories, wearing
a red fox cape, a gift of the groom.
After their honeymoon they will take
up residence in their apartment in
Zurich. The Herald joins their many
