IN MEMORIAM FIVE CARS OF CATTLE Sadly missed by his wife and son ..Five carloads of Western cattle, comprising 126 Herefords, mostly Hugh and family. two-year-old steers and a few hei- fers, arrived in Exeter Wednesday of Last week for Mr. Milo Snell. Mr. Snell spent about a month in the West, visiting one of the larger cattle ranches in Saskatchewan, where he purchased the animals. They are of pure-bred stock. Mr. Snell made his headquarters while in the West at Moose Jaw, Sask.—Exeter Times - Advocate. • FIRE AT CLINTON STORE The Davis and Herman men's clo- thing store Clinton was heavily dam- aged by fire which broke out an Sat- urday. Stocks of finished and unfin- ished suits, overcoats, air force uni- forms and haberdashery valued at $10,000 suffered extensivel damage from smoke, fire and water. The origin of the fire is undetermined. The alarm was turned in by Night Constable Bert Fremlin who, while patrolling the business section, det- ected the smell of smoke and located the burning premises. AIRMAN KILLED IN ACTION . Mr and Mrs. Fred Mutch, 'Clinton have received a cable that their yo- ur nigest son Flight Sergt. Charles Edward Mutch has been killed in ac- tion in Malta. He was a fighter pilot atached to a squadron of the RCAF., had been in Malta since last June, and was a veteran of many fighting sweeps. Sgt. Mutch received his pub- lic and high school education in Clin- ton. The salvage collection campaign, which has been inaugurated in 44 counties in Ontario is of the utmost importance to the continued repro- duction of munitions of war to be used by Canada's fighting forces. Great quantities of scrap steel, iron and other metals are urgently need- ed to enelble our shipyards and fac- tories to produce the ships, tanks, planes, guns and other munitions re- quired to win the war. On nearly every farm in Ontario there ise scrap metal in large or small quantities lying around the farmyards, or in barns or implement sheds.
