HAY COUNCIL The regular mothly meting of the Council of the Township of Hay was held in the Town Hall, Zurich, on Monday, :Sept. 8th, with all members pesent. Minutes of the August me- eting were adopted as read. After disposing of the communications the folowing resolutions were passed: That by-law No. 1211.942 confirm• ing the general tax rate at 12.56 mills be read three times and finelly passed. That engineer's report, pans, etc., re Willert Drain prepared by T. .R Patterson, be accepted by the Coun- cil and that Clerk notify all parties assesed under the drainage scheme that reports, etc., will be read a nd considered by the Council at a spec- ial meeting of the Council ao be held at .the Town Hall, Zurich, on Sep.t 24th at 7.30 o'clock in the evening. Hess left over the week- end for his position at Kaupeskasing, Northern Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Herold of Sha- kespeare; 3Ir. and Mrs. Alvin Sip - ple and son Bobbie of Milverton, vis ited on Sunday at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Truemner and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schade, 14th con. Miss Shirley Krueger who has been engaged as operator at the local cen- tral office, has accepted a position at Nilestown. Tag Day For Zurich Tuesday, Septeirbber 22nd nas been named as Tag Day for the benefit of the Blind in Ontaro, and the mach- inery is being put in motion and be- ing oraganized to make this a big day for this noble cause. Mr. E. M. Dagg, of town has been appointed as manager of the event and an ap• peal is niade to all to help this good cause along. THE FALL FAIR Next week, Monday and Tuesday are the dates of the Zurich Fall Fair which event conies once in .the year, and it is usually Zurich's Big Day, and we hope this year will be an exceptionally big day. Our ,official board has made every effort to make this a big success. Many new and Ia2ger prizes have been added, and an appeal is being made to the pub - 'fa, not alone by the local Society, but by headquarters from Toronto, for people to patronize the rocal'fali fairs and now as never :before to stimulate .production and agriculture. Take a few hours off on Tuesday, and visit our local fair, it will do you all good, and you will always Iearn something by attending. Bring the whole family and you win have a good time. John A. Mc- Donald. at the home o her sister,Mrs Chris Haugh, Wednesday .Iast, in her 76th year and although she had been in failing health for several years was not confined to bed until about two and a half weeks. She had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Gor- don Manson, until coming to Bruce - field fife weeks ago. Her husband, to whom she was [married 45 years ago predeceased her 86 years ago. Born at Blake, daughter of the late Mr. ,and Mrs. Robert Allan, she graduuat ed es a nurse in St. Catharines hos- pital. 'Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. G.
