Friends and relatives gather for
the day of graduation and congratu
late the young men on their achieve-
ment.
Now, I know little about the be-
ginning of this venture here. But
first of all. it must have been in 'the
mind of the owner. Possibly a
dream. In faith he began. Through
days of uncertintnty he !car/Tea on.
He has arrived and now is happy in
this hour of victory. So, as we con-
gratulate young men who graduate
after years of study so we congratu
late late Mr. Hoffman and his good
wife who must have linked her mind
with his in planning this, on this
wonderful achievement. He who nev-
r vtntures never arrives. Without
faith nothing can be accomplished.
Se we rejoice in the realization of
this venture of faith.,
But not only is this a happy day
for the owner of this beautiful new
home but it is a happy day for all of
us. We live in a rural community.
The towns and villages are small. We
have been led to think that only the
cities have the big things. Modern
equipment and elaborate furnishings
have so often been associated with
city life. But tremendous changes
have come about in rural areas. With
electricity have come modern con-
• ''veniences. There is not so much
difference anymore. So institutions
an•d business places are progressing.
This home and chapel is an evidence
of this change. This is equal to and
surpasses many such homes and cha-
pel in the city. The city has come to
the countryside. :But more, where is
there a rural community that can
qua! this I know of none. So we
as a community share in the happin
'ess of the owner are proud of !having
'such a beautiful home in our midst.
But this chapel may also prove to
be a ,place where men and women
will find God. The purpose of such
to room has certain mournful associa-
tions. Deatih will be a common
thing. But when are men and women
most acceptable to spiritual impres-
sions? It is in a crisis. Death in
a home is often the greatest crisis for
some lives. They begin to think to
ask questions. They begin to com-
mune with their own hearts which
often leads them to commune with
God. So in this place hearts may be
turned to God. Unbelief and theism
have no help for questioning hearts
in such a place. Only God can help.
In a .crisis most men pray. It is not
the highest form of prayer, but it
does show that unbelief has no ans
wer. Perhaps this chapel will wit-
ness a crisis hour for many folks.
May they find God here. In closing
'our prayer is that this house may be
a place of peace and quiet strength
for all who will gather here."
Mrs. J. M. Tiem<an sang `Bless this
House." Rev. C. Becker asked ev-
eryone,: to rise for the Act of Dedi-
cation
40' Happy Horne, where Thou art
loved the dearest,
Thou loving friend and Savious of
our race,
And where among the guests ,there
never cometh
One who can hold such high and hon
ored place,
0' Happy Home where each one ser-
ves Thee, lowly,
Whatever his appointed woak may be
Till every comnrnon task seems great
and holy
When it is done, 0 Lord, as unto
Thee. Amen.
Rev. C Heckendorn. of Zurich,
gave the following address.
This is a happy day for <n}1 of us.
But it is a particularly happy day
for Mr. Harry Hoffman the owner of
this home. I like to look upon it os
the fulfilment of a dream. Most of
us when we are young have certain
dareame and visions. There is some-
thing that we hope to accomplish and
toward which we strive. Sometimes
it seems a long wayy off, too far for
some young people and they fail to
arrive. Some oung men know what
they are going to do. For exarnp,le
we know of young men who have re-
ceived the call ,to the ministry. Six
or seven years lies !before thele as
they contemplate their college and
seminary preparation. When they
begin the goal seems so far off. They
work hard and make many sacrifices
and finally the great day comes.

ever was the need for fire prevention so_ great as it is
to -day. Why? Because buildings are next to impossible
to replace. Because farm fires destroy food along with
the power to produce it. Fires are the Notion's loss
now!
Get everybody on your farm to be a fire warden Crack
down on smoking in or around your bards. Insist that
no matches be carried unless in tight tin boxes --and
not at all while tin eshing.
See that the lamps and lanterns are filled before dark.
Always hang the lantern well up—snapped on with a
good strong snap.. Don't takes chances with kerosene
oil or gasoline.
Don't tamper with electric wiring. Keep your Lightning
rods and cables in good repair—always. Fight by
preventing fires.

HAT'S what everyone has to do these days
—manufacturers, dealers and consumers.
Because of the reduction of materials available
for the manufacture of Duro Pumping Systems,
our many dealers have been requested to place the
few new Duro Pumps we can allot each one with
prospective purchasers whose war -time farm pro-
duction can be materially increased by having
running water.
These dealers, because we cannot supply as
many new Duro Pumps as they can sell, will be
anxious to keep every Duro Pump in their terri-
tory in good running order, so that it will give
maximum uninterrupted service.
The Duro dealer in your
vicinity will be glad to service
and replace worn parts in
your Duro Pump. Have it
checked now to insure a con-
tinuation of the satisfactory
service to which you are ac-
customed. „1„...
