Gordon James Kaitting, son of Mr.

wedding to take place in. May. Mrs.
Hoist is giving a trousseau tea in
honor of her daughter Gertrude on
Tuesday, May 19th, from 3 to 5
and from 7.30 to 9 p.m. and extends
an invitation to all friends and re-

end our brays overseas boxes of

OBITUARY
Late Frederich W. McEwan
Frederick W. McEwan, with his
brother, Joseph, partner in a sawmill
and threshing business in ,Bayfield
and in Clinton, died on May 6th, in
Clinton Hospital after a short illness.
A native of 'Goderich, he was born
August 26, 1186 7, son of the elate
Joseph and Elizabeth McEwan. He
came with his parents to Bayfield
more than 50 years ago. His first wife
the former En ria Sarah Peck, pre-
deceased him in 1916. His second
wife, Ellen Peck, whom he married
in 1919, survives him. Also surviving
are two brothers, Joseph and samuel
and a niece, Doris MeaEwan, all of
Bayfield, land a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth
KnUckey, Toronto. Services were
held on Friday at •2.30 from 11 is
late residencefi with interment in
Bayfield cemetery.
Former Resident Passes
• The death occurred at Stratford
General Hospital • on Wednesday,
May 6, of Emanuel Merner, a prom-
inent and esteemed resident of the
village of Sebringville and a native
of New Hamburg. Mr. Merner was
i11 only about a week and was taken
to the hospital shortly. The deceased
was a son of the 'late Mr. and Mrs.
Christian Meaner of New Hamburg.
He was born on the merrier home-
stead •near New Hamburg and as a
young mars went to Zurich and in
partnership with his cousin, Jona-
4han T. Merner, conducted a general
store business for a few years. Leav-
ing Zurich he settled in Sehringvllle
over fifty years ago and• farmed suc-
cessfully for many years, retiring in
1.904.a Was actively engaged in
his home Evangelical church for
many years. an Tune 27, 1888 ,the.
late Mr. M r net was mar^riecl to
Maryann T> + 'cncr. of Sebringville,
who. survives with a daughter Mrs.
