HURON COUNTY
Goderieh -- In a public announce-
ment Warden George Armstrong. of
Huron County, urged all electors to
exercise their franchise.an the pleb-
iscite vote next Monday. "It is nec-
essary that a `yes' vote be recorded
-so that our Government will be re-
lieved of its pledge and be placed in
a position to wage an all-out war."
A yes vote is a vote for united 'Can-
ada, to stay .away is to vote `no'.'
,Warden Armstrong also has addres-
sed.a letter to reeves and edputy re-
eves of all municipalities 'requesting
them to do all their power to see
that electors get to the polls and
cast a "yes" vote.
FIRE IN STEPHEN TWP.
Fire broke out on Saturday at the
rersidence of Roy Mason, on the 18
con. Stephen, which completely de-
stroyed the entire fauilding+ . It was
believed to have " started from a
spark from the kitchen ,chimney which
landed on the roof and with a strong
wind was too far :advanced to check.
Mr. Mason had been living in the
community for only two years hav-
ing moved foom the West. With .a
number of neighbors and friends
they were successful in getting out
considerable furniture but Mrs.
Mason had the misfortune of losing
her diamond ring. The contents were
covered by insurance.
Evangelical Church
The Evening Services at the Annual
Conference
The Annual Conference will open
in the Evangelical Church on Tues-
day, April 28. Some of the great
leaders of the church willbe heard
in a series of addresses at the even-
ing meetings. The General Theme for
'the Conference is, " The Church -
Her Ships Sail On and On.'" These
services are open to the public and
all are invited to avail themselves of
this great privilege of receiving in-
spiration and instruction i'rom these

CELEBRATES 90th BIRTHDAY
Sr. Daniel Smith ha;d the special
privilege on Tuesday, April 21st to
celebrate his 90th Birthday quietly
at the home of his eldest son and
family, Mr. and •12rs. Clayton 0.
Smith, Blue Water Highway, south
of .St. Joseph, and on the farm Mr.
Smith purchased nearly 40 years ago.
Mr. Smith was )horn in Rainham Twp.
Haldiamand Twp., in 1852, moving
with the ` family to Wihnot Twp.,
ner New ltatmburg in 1874. In
1879 he was united in marriage to
Catherine Bock, who predeceased in
1895. Surviving are three sons:
Clayton 0, on the homestead, Hay;
Irvin D. of Hamilton, traevving sales-
man and Chester L, of Zurich pub-
lisher of the Zurich Herald. Mr,
Smith enjoys wonderful health for
a man his age, his intellect is keen,
although his 'eyesight is somewhat
impared, yet he .seems to do consid-
erable reading mostly in the script-
ures. His ;many friends congratu-
late him on'having reached the four-
score and ten age, and wish him con-
tinued health and enjoyment of life.
