Horticulture Society Disbands Owing to lack of enthusiastic sup- port forced the Exeter Horticulture Society to go out of •business after 20 years. Solutions for disposal of' $125 in the treasury have been sub- mitted to the Dept. of Agriculture, Annual Meeting The annual meeting of the Hay IVIunicipal Telephone System was held in the town hall, Zurich on Monday afternoon, with the usual attendance. The System s in a very good and healthy condition as the annual statement shows a balance on hand of $5,511.59 an assets to the amount of $63,446.49. During the past year the System had its own office erected at Dashwood and now own their office buildings .at Dash- wood and Zurich, and have a very bright outlook for the future provid- ing no serious mishap OCCUMS• OBITUARY . The death occurred at 'Hensel]. on Tuesday, Feb. 3rd of Mrs. Magdalena Lindenfield, •Hensall's •oldes resident, who would have observed her 92nd birthday in April of this year. The deceased had been enjoying fairly good health until the last week, when her health began to fail. A native of ; Baden she had 'been a resident of Hensall for the pait 50 years4, for a time living with her daughter Mrs Schoch in Zurich, a few years ago. Her husband, the late Isreal Linden-, field, predeceased her some years a- go. A member of the United Church. Surviving are four sons: William of the West; Isreal, Dondon; Walter, Stirling, Ont; Edward, Exeter, and two daughters, Mrs. Cyrus Schoch, Sebringville, and Mrs. Adeline John- son, of. Hensall, with whom she re- sided and who gave her untiring care and nursing. Public funeral service was held -from the home in Hensall,on Thursday at 2 -p.m. conducted by her minister, Rev. She was aw- arded $15 and the cheque arrived be- fore Christmas. Woman Had Accident In an unusual accident; 1Virs. Lorne Woods of St. Helens had the misfor- tune to injure her knee very severely and also scalded her arm. Mrs, She tripped when earring a kettle of boiling water to the liarn. She was taken to Wingham hospital, the in- jured knee placed in a cast and she is making a splendid recovery. Oldest Resident Passes Richard Weston, Bayfield's oldest resident died at his home on Fab. 5th. He was in his 92nd year. Bonn in Goderich Twp. His wife predeceased him 1'2 years ago and was tthe form- er Elisabeth Looby .and were marr- ied in 1870. They •lived in !Goderich Twp. until 35 years ago when they moved to Bayfield. •Surviving are 5 daughters: Miss Elisabeth and Mrs. Maud Blair of Bayfield; Mrs, Lillian Elliott os Goderich 'Tp; Mrs. Lulu Crane and Mrs. Mabel Newton ofD e- troit; three sons, Edward of Goder- ich; Orval Detroit and George , of Bayfield and a brother, Henry, of Bayfield. Another son, Wus. vet:he-- ceased last May. Last year the .society had a very suecessful record and during the .coming year will hold both a Seed Fair and Spring Stock Show, at both of which a Tull prize list will be of- fered. The seed fair will be held on Friday, Feb. 27th, when the judge of exhibits will be Prof. Mason of the Ont. Agric. College, Guelph, who is no stranger here and whose address following the judging, has been int- eresting and instructive.
