They had a lot to do for it was only a few more clays until Christmas. One day Santa was very tired and decided to lie down for a little while. It wasn't long until he started to dream. He was dreaming he woke up from a long nap and heard some- thing strange. What he heard was silence. Now, "Why" Santa said to himself, "would there be silence when there's all these toys to be made?" Maybe they went outside, he thought and he walked over to the window to see if they were out there. Suddenly Santa's rosy red cheeks turned as white as the snow, and his hat and beard stood on end. What he saw was all his elves carrying huge signs reading, "On strike!" He called for Mrs. Claus and when she saw the signs she was so surprised she almost jumped out of her skin. Santa ran outside to find out why they were on strike. When he found out the answer he said he would try and change it because tomorrow was Christ- mas. Santa was still dreaming this when Mrs. Claus came in, woke him up and said it was time to deliver all the gifts to the children. He was so relieved to find it was only a dream. MR. AND MRS.
