A CHRISTMAS GIFT
I'd like to have a china horse.
I'd put it on the dresser. I'd
like to have a black one. I' d
polish it with a cloth. I' d call it
Blacky. 1' d like the horse with a
white mark on the forehead in
a shape of a star. But what would
I do with it when I went to school.
1' d put it in the drawer.

CHRISTMAS
In my opinion Christmas is too
commercialized. Many people
believe that Christmas is only a
time for giving or receiving pres-
ents and cards. They do not seem
to remember that Jesus was also
born on Christmas Day. Many
store -owners make most of their
money in December, and to some
,of them it's just a time to inc-
rease their yearly profits. I bel-
ieve that we should be more will-
ing to help people, not just at
Christmas but all year.

KISSING UNDER THE
MISTLETOE
There is Moni and Dad,
Aren 't they getting bad!
Underneath the doorway,
Looking bright and gay.
One smack, two smacks,
There they go again!
Boy! All the way up to ten!
Now they're finally done,
And we can have some fun.
Opening up our gifts;
Plus taking lots of whiffs,
Of that lovely smelling chicken
Cook 'in in the kitchen.
Another Christmas gone by.
My, who time does fly!
Angela Zehr
Christmas isn 't far away.
Happy New Year is O.K.
Ride your sled down the road.
Icy roads all covered with snow.
Tell the angels you were good;
Maybe they will bring some wood
A match will make the wood flow,
See how your fireplace glow.
Christmas is fun 1 .hear,
Help us fill it with good cheer.
Elves make it easy you know.
Else where people are playing in
snow.
Reindeer's noses are very black
and
Santa has a big red sack.
Kevin Oke
CHRIST was born on Christmas
Day,
HEAR the angels sing,
READ the story of his birth,
IN the manger the infant was
born
SONGS were sung on that glad
day.
TWO shepherds came to see
MARY held her baby there,
AND Joseph knealed beside her
SINGING joyous songs to him.
THREE wise men gave him gold,
Frankincense and myrrh,
IN the stable cold and dark,
MARY kept him very warm
EVEN though they were so old
God gave them a child who
was called Jesus.

A MODERN SANTA CLAUS
There he sits on his "throne"
day after day, but he never for-
gets his lunch and coffee breaks.
The Santa 1 see in a department
store is but a man hauled in off
the street and given fifty dollars
a day to sit in a corny costume
and "wiggle like a bowl full of
jelly." His suit smells musty
from being in the back room und-
er numerous boxes piled to the
ceiling. His beard is bedraggled
and moth eaten. The white
fringes on his suit are grey and
tattered from several little hands
pulling at them. You ,can see
stubbles of his real black whisk-
ers (as he forgot to shave) peep-
ing from behind the cotton beard.
The suit is spattered with gum,
ice cream and candy drippings.
His shins are banged and bruised
from countless kickings and scuff-
ings of devious little people
being yanked away from him
by a frenzied mother.
To me, this imposter, is our
modern SantaClaus.
