Santa's gifts
by Terry Baker,
Grade 8,
Hensall Public School
One year when Santa was mak-
ing his rounds at the North Pole
he looked to the South and won-
dered just how he could get toys
to those children for his sleigh
wough only go on snow.
When he was finished talking
to his elves in the toy shop he
went home and thought about
how he could get toys to all the
other girls and boys toward the
south.
Then when he was out walking
one day he saw nine reindeer
flying and jumping around.
There was one that had a shiny
red nose. He called him over and
asked him if he and his friends
could pull his sliegh to the south
in the air. All the reindeer agreed
to this.
So Santa trained them all to
fly his sleigh. He named them
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen,
Cornet, Cupid, Donner, Bltzen
and the most beautiful reindeer of
all he named Rudolph with the
shiny nose. But there was one
problem, how to get the snow
down there.
So Santa took and filled his
sleigh full of snow, went down
south earlier and spread the snow
all over by throwing it out of the
sleigh, but at the equator it all
melted so he just landed on the
rooves of houses down there.
So now until this very day
Santa goes early every year and
spreads the snow and goes back
up to the North.
Christmas has come

The snow flying gently and soft
Children dressed warmly playing
in a hay loft.
People all cuddled around a fire-
place
And grandma dressed in her sil-
ver lace.
Autumn has left us
Christmas has come,
Snow to shovel
And songs to hum.
Angels from heaven
Sitting around their king
For it is a happy season
And a season to sing.
A choir softly singing
And church bells loudly ringing
Christ the Lord was born today
And in his manger bed he lay.
