Ladies ,did meet

Zion Lutheran Ladies' Aid held
their combined Christmas and
annual meeting Wednesday,
December 10. The president,
Mrs, Arnold Becker opened the
meeting with a Christmas carol
followed by an Advent prayer in
unison. Twenty-five members
answered the roll call and there
were 14 guests.
Reports were heard from all
secretaries and the treasurer.
Each convenor gave a yearly
report of her group's activities
during the year.
Mrs. Lorne Genttner gave the
nominating committee report for
a new treasurer and presided for
the -election of Helen Nadiger.
Officers for 1976 are a• follows:

vice-president, Mrs. Lorne
Genttner; secretary, Mrs. Irvin
Rader; treasurer, Helen Nadiger;
card secretary, Mrs. Albert

The Altar Guild reported 16
visits, two phone calls, and
seven treats. •
The new Guild is Mrs. Arnold
Becker and Mrs. Charles Mar-
tene. .
A gift of $S0 was made to the
Lutheran Hour.
Mrs. Bill Berends read the
legend of the Poinsetta; Let's
keep Christmas by Peter Marshall
and A Christmas Prayer.
Mrs. Sheila; Miller displayed
her candles and discussed
candle making from early times.
She also demonstrated the art of
painting and finishing a candle
trema the mould and dripping.
Gifts of appreciation were
presented to Sheila Miller,
Mrs. Jim Hayter and Mrs. Ken
Keller who are now members of
Berea -by -the -Sea Lutheran
Church, Goderich and Pastor and
Mrs. Marvin Barz.
Group 4 with Mrs. Earl Keller
convenor served a Christmas
lunch following distributing an
exchange of gifts. Pastor Barz
brought the meeting to a close
with prayer.
The United Church Women of
Calvary church held a Christmas
pot_ luck supper Tuesday, Dec-
ember 9. Husbands and guests
were invited as well as choir
members.
Mrs. Mildred Kellerman,
chairlady, opened the Worship
service with a poem, "The
Christmas Story." Christmas
meditation was a candle light
service, "Horne for Christmas,"
with Mrs. Kellerman, Mrs.
Stuart Wolfe and Mrs. Jack
Gaiser taking part.

Wolfe, Mervyn Tiernan, Bill

Pastor and Mrs. Bruce Guy
attended the christening of
their granddaughter, Jennifer
Christine, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Morrison, Varna,
at Goshen United Church Sunday,
December 14.
Jennifer wore a long gown
made from scraps of her mother's
wedding gown and the minister,
Rev. Alexander Taylor said it
had been a long time since he
had seen a baby in a long gown.

one accident
Only one accident was in-
vestigated this week by the
Pinery OPP detachment, it
occurring on Saturday.
Vehicles driven by Harris
Hallman, Hanover, and John
Kelders, RR 2 Grand Bend,
collided on Highway 21, resulting
in damage of $1,500.
There were no injuries.
During the week the officers
laid four charges under the
Highway Traffic Act and one
under the Lquor Control Act.
There was one theft reported,
with Ioss being $10.

Jack Gaiser sang favorite carols.
A skit, "After the church sup-
per," with six nen dressed as
ladies was hilarious.
Those taking part were Bill
Chandler, Hugh Boyle, Stuart
Wolfe, Don and Jack Gaiser and
Mervyn Tiernan. Movie pictures
of Dashwood taken from 1954-
1975 were shown by Jack Gaiser..
Rev. Bruce• Guy closed with
the benediction.
Mrs. Gertrude McCrae has
been substituting at the organ
in Calvary United Church for
Mis Idella Gabel who under-
went surgery.

carols and recitations by the
kindergarten pupils with the
theme "Cheer" the pri7iary
pupils with the theme, "Christ-
mas," the junior pupils with the
theme, "Angels Eye -View,"
the intermediate with the theme,
"Bethlehem again?" Anmarie
Hoffman sang, "Silent Night"
and a prayer followed by a carol '
closed the program.

Santa Claus is coning to town.
He will be at the community
centre Saturday afternoon,
December 20 at 2 p.m.
Ray Kretzman, who had come
to Detroit on business from
Margrate, Florida, visited
with Mrs. Cora Gaiser, Don,
Jack and families on the week-
end.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Datars
and other members and wives
of the local committee for the
International Plowing Match in
1978 had a dinner meeting at
Benmiller Inn, Thursday evening.
Mrs. Hilton Ford is a patient
in South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Mrs. Karen Nolan, Van Nuys,
California, visited with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oluf
Pederson, Bud Durdin and the
Joe Manuel family, London.
Mrs. Ray Rader attended a
W.I. board meeting at Clinton,
Monday.
