INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE
The December meeting of the
Ladies Guild of Trinity Anglican
Church was held in the Parish
Hall on Tuesday afternoon.
The meeting was opened by the
rector who read the Scripture
lesson and the president, Mrs. R.
Roy Fitzsimons who read a lovely
poem entitled `What More Can
You Ask' and also the popular
prose '1f God Went On Strike'.
Mrs. Fitzsimons thanked all who
had helped to make the bazaar
such a success and particularly
Mrs. Ruth Mutzelburg who had
worked so hard on the crafts table
making a great many of the
articles herself. Fifteen members
answered the Roll Call.
The secretary, Mrs. L. W.
Scotchmer, gave her report.
A letter from our adopted Pakis-
tan child thanking us for her
birthday gift was read. Two other
thank you notes were also read.
Several cards have been sent out
to friends and members. Mrs.
Merton Merner, treasurer, gave
her report which was approved
and all outstanding bills were to
be paid by the end of the year.
It was decided that the Guild
would pay for the propane gas
used in the Parish Hall kitchen.
A summary of the years work was
given by the secretary, treasurer
and card secretary.
The pot -luck supper and child -
rens Christmas Party will be held
on Sunday, December 21 at 5:00
p.m. in the Parish Hall. This is
open to all members of the
Church .
The president vacated the chair
and Rev. Youmatoff took over
for the election of officers as
follows: -president Mrs. R. Roy
Fitzsimons, vice-president Mrs.
Bill Parker, treasurer Mrs. Mer-
ton Merner, secretary Mrs.
Berthena Hammond, card and
flower secretary Mrs. Maude
Weston.
The meeting was closed by the
Rector and the hostess, Mrs.
Harry Baker served a very lovely
lunch of Christmas cookies with a
cup of tea. It was decided to
continue serving lunch and tea
after each meeting in the future.

There was a good turn -out
again on Friday night at the Bay-
field arena for the hockey games.
Bayfield Atoms defeated Clinton
5-4 in Bayfield. Goal scoreres for
Bayfield were Darin Telford
assisted by Robbie Siettsema;
Andrew Bullen unassisted;
Darin Telford (2) both goals
assisted by Andrew Bullen and
Robbie Sertsema unassisted.
The Atoms lost to Mitchell in
Mitchell with ore of 5-3.
Robbie Siertsen ,ached a hat
trick assisted by Darin Telford
and Andrew Bullen. The Atoms
play next in Hensall on Friday
night.
In the Novice exhibition game
in Zurich on Monday night
against Grand Bend, Bayfield
lost 5-1 with David Telford scor-
ing Bayfield's only goal.
Monday night Bayfield Pee-
wees beat Grand Bend in Zurich
3-1, Mike Telford getting 2 goals
assisted by John Dawson and
Robert Boyes. Brian Vats Aaken
scored the. final goal unassisted.
On Friday, Bayfield won in
Hensall 3-2. Goal scorers were
David Hill from Brian Van
Aaken, Jeff Merner unassisted
and Robert Boyes from Mike
Telford. On Saturday night they
lost to Seaforth in Seaforth 1-0.
The Pee Wees play Hensall in
Bayfield on Tuesday night and
Friday night at 8:30 they play
against Clinton in Bayfield. The
Minor Hockey Christmas Box
draw will take place after the
game Friday night. December 19.

Bayfield Lions Club reported a
good turnout for their Annual
Feather Party bingo on Friday
night. Winners of the turkeys
were Mrs. Harold Dowson and
Mrs. Joyce Dowson both of
Varna; Mrs. Charles Rau, Mrs.
Claude Gelinas both of Zurich;
Mrs. Alma McLean, Joyce Beck -
ler, both of Goderich; Wilfred
Glazier (2), Phyllis Lee, Mrs. Wil-
fred Glazier all of Clinton; Art
Alexander, Brucefield; Bill
Austin, Seaforth; Carolyn Mern-
er, Grand Bend; Mrs. Jim Boyce,
Mrs. Donelda Sturgeon, Rick
Johnston, Robert Leppington,
Mrs. Viola Bell, Morgan Smith
and Rusty Brandon all of Bay-
field.
Share -the -Wealth games were
won by Raymond Desch, Varna,
$30.00; Mrs. Art Alexander,
Brucefield, $25.00; Mrs. Tom
Consitt, Varna, $33.00; Mrs.
Dick McLean, Goderich, $35.00.

Harry Baker, chairman for the
Bayfield Lions Club canvass
for the blind, expressed thanks to
all those who contributed and also
to the canvassers. The fund
amounted to a record $311.50
which will go directly to the
Canadian National Institute for
the Blind in London to help 30,000
Canadians who have lost their
sight.

The congregation and friends
of Trinity Anglican Church are
reminded of the Festival of the
Nine Lessons and Carol Service
on Sunday morning, December 21
at 10:00 a.m. •

The Ladies Afternoon Bridge
Club held their Christmas pot
luck dinner Wednesday afternoon
with 15 members and one guest
attending. The tables looked very
attractive in their Christmas
decorations. Everyone enjoyed a
lovely dinner. Mrs. Mary Clark
won the high bridge prize and

Miss Viola Cadger won the low
prize. Two cards were signed by
those present to send out to
Mrs. Agnes Cameron and Mrs.
Mary Weston remembering them
at Christmas time.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Turner
had as their Sunday dinner
guests, their daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. David Fawcett of Clinton;
Mrs. Turner's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Cliff Stewart of Clinton; her
sister, Helen Stewart of London
and a friend Miss Jean Walker
also of London.
