Grand Rend couple show slides of trip The United Church women. met Thursday afternoon in the S. S. rooms for their november meeting with 20 attending and president, Mrs. Olive Miller, presiding. Mrs. Bill Love read the scripture lesson verses 1-14 of 4th chapter of Esther. Mrs. Marge Mason conducted the worship service, using the theme, "Our date with destiny." She read a story from a book by Amy Bolding, based on the 14th verse of Chpater 4 of Esther. Roll Call was answered by telling of foreign missions or showing foreign article. The ladies were reminded - that the next meeting will be in the form of a hot pot luck luncheon at 1:30 p.m. Lunch hostess was Mrs. Susie Devine, assisted by Mrs. Ed Turnbull and Mrs. Hugh Morenz. Over 40 attended the social evening Thursday, in Grand Bend Town Hall, when Grop I of th Womenb Institute were in charge of the program. Meeting opened with a sing song of several favorite old time songs. Bill Thompson played accordian selections, ac- companied by Mrs. Irene Kennedy on the piano. A reading "Growing Old", was given' by Mrs. Dorothy Reeves. Mrs. Olive Miller and Mrs. Kennedy sang two duets, Hi Lilli, Hi Lo, and Blue Hawaii. Bill a nd Helen Sturdevant showed pictures of their trip through the southern U. S. going through Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Painted Desert, Petrified Forest, Badlands, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Texas, California, San Grancisco, Oregon and Washington and then home through British Columbria and Prairie Provinces. Personais Mr. and Mrs. Milt Jacob of Rochester, Michigan, visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Baker. • Mrs. Raymond Kading spent a few days last week in St. Thomas with her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Baker. Mr, and Mrs. Alec Hamilton were Sunday supper guests with her sister and husband. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wein of Crediton. The Orpha Club met last Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. George Walper in Green Acres iwth 26 at- tending. President, Mrs. Clarke Kennedy, opened with a poem,"A little at a time," Tickets were distributed for the quilt raffle to be drawn for at their Christmas party on December 9, at Mrs. Roy Flear's home. Earl Finnen and Roy Flear made several doll cradles to be given as Christmas gifts to Children's Aid at Sarnia. The ladies planned to make bedding to equip the cradles. The travelling prize donaed by Jean Galbraith was won by Mrs. Art Finkbeiner. Next meeting will be November 26 at Mrs. Marty Burke's home. Lunch was served by the hostess assisted by Mrs. Lillian Brown. The Grand Bend No. I, 4-H Club girls held their third meeting last Thursday evening' at Mrs. Jack Smeeken% home. They decided to name their club the "Grand Bend Better Batter Bread Beaters." Roll Call was answered by telling, "What meal you eat -the most bread at, and in what form." The firls were asked by their leaders to go to markets and compare prices on labels of breads, mixes and dough products. At the discussion period, they talked about covers for their Record books and a skit for Achievement Day. Home Assignment was to make bread at home.
