Constable Wray said he felt
current regulations which allow
a suspended driver to drive to
and from work during the day
are not a good idea.
A film shown to the C of C
members showed how alcohol
affected professional car drivers
in a series of tests. The const-
able added, "This film shows
how little alcohol it takes to affect
a person. In normal conditions
five or six drinks will cause a
driver to lose his efficiency."
The breathalizer machines are
calibrated to relate the breath of
..person to his blood. The const-
able indicated that the alcohol
level in a person goes up quickly
and down slowly. It takes from 30
to 90 minutes to reach a peak.
The Goderich OPP detachment
has one breathalizer machine and
four operators. In most instances
these operators are considered
to be expert witnesses.
