The November meeting of
Zurich W.I. was in charge of
Canadian Industries convenors,
Mrs. V. Dinnin and Mrs. H.
Hohner who arranged a tour
of several plants in the town.
The first stop was at the office
of the Zurich Citizens News
where one of the new owners,
Ted Rowcliffe explained some
of their plans and renovations
for the future. He also showed
how the weekly paper is assembl-
ed for printing. Most of the week-
ly papers in this area are printed
in Goderich.
The next stop was at the Hab-
erer and Westlake Burial Vaults
where Fred Haberer showed how
these are constructed and also
one ready for delivery.
The next visit was at the
A B Printing shop where the own-
er Allan Brokenshire explained
his operations.
From there members went to
the Zurich Wood Products and
saw the employees busily engag-
ed in making their wood pallets
which are used for shipping
purposes. Members then return-
ed to the Hay Township Hall
and enjoyed a pot -luck supper.
Everyone agreed it was an int-
eresting afternoon and were most
appreciative to the several
gentlemen in the different plants
who explained their work.
In the business meeting after,
five new members were wel-
comed into the Institute, Mrs.
Dietrich, Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Zim-
mer, Miss Ethel Gabel and Miss
Kathleen Hay.
A report of the area convent-
ion at St. Thomas in October was
given by Mrs. T. Meyers who had
attended along with Mrs. Myrtle
Hay and Mrs. Ward Neeb, from
our Institute.
Plans were made for a Red
Cross canvass this year sponsor-
ed by the W.I. with Miss Ethel
Gabel as convenor.
Mrs. Lorne Klopp presided for
the business in the absence of
the president, Mrs. Newell
Geiger who is in hospital.
