Thursday evening Oct- ober 2, Sargeant Whitter and Corporal Wray, repres- enting the OPP and Town of Goderich, gave a very inform- ative presentation on drugs and their growing use today, at the Zurich Mennonite Church. The film shown illustrated the effects of common drugs on the nervous system and expanded this to the effects' of amphedamens, marajuana, L.S.D. and herroine. At the conclusion of the film Sar- geant Whitter added that they classed alcohol as a drug also. During the question and answer period that followed, several points were brought out: - seldom see a "pusher" using the drugs - it's just an easy way of making quick money. - marajuana users having noticeable personality change -presence of both maraj- uana and beer at parties in this area is prevalent. - use of drugs in Goderich area steadily increasing. To aid in the discussion, Sargeant Whitter had a displ- ay of confiscated pills, maraj- uana leaves, nickle and dime bags, and hashies pipes most of which came from the Goderich area.
