HomeMy WebLinkAboutZurich Citizens News, 1975-10-09, Page 11Lions hear District Governor Guest speaker at the Mon- day night dinner meeting of the Zurich Lions Club was District Governor Grant Chisholm, of Lucknow, who chose as his theme, "What is Zionism?" The Governor told the mem- bers that belonging to a serv- ice club.such as the Lions Club offers great rewards in satis- faction and stressed the point that a member gets out of it only what he put into it. "We must serve as Lions," he added. "The whole exerc- ise is meaningless if we don't. We must always remember that service is our motto." Referring to world affairs, the speaker pointed out that if "Lions roar loud enough our leaders will hear us." The Governor was introd- uced by Lion. Richard Erb, aid thanked by Lion Don Oke. Also attending the meeting with the District Governor were his father and 'his son, both members of Goderich Lions Club. Several other vis- itors froni both the Goderich and Lucknow groups attend- ed as well. In the business portion of the Monday night meeting the members of the organiz- ation agreed to buy a complete set of hockey equipment for the local Peewees. Doug O'Brien, chairman of the boy's and girl's committee, showed the Lions a set of equipment which his commit - MR. AND MRS. GARY EARL FLAXBARD Bette Lynn Breckenridge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon- ard Breckenridge, Petrolia and Gary Earl Flaxbard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Flaxbard, Zurich, were united in marriage recently at St. Paul's United Church; Petrolia, with Rev. Guest officiating. Bridal attendants were Wendy Breckenridge and Mrs. Nancy Lord sisters of the bride, Ruth Ann Flaxbard, Mrs. Shirley Cooper, sisters of the groom and his niece, Lori Cooper. Best man was Gerald Rader, Zurich and ushers, Paul Flaxbard, brother of the groom, Bob McBride, Goderich, Ross Cooper, brother- in-law of the groom and nephew Jonathan Cooper. After their honeymoon in the Pocano Mountains, Pennyslv- ania, USA, they are residing in Toronto. The bride is on the nursing staff at Toronto East General Hospital and the groom in attendance in Law at Osgoode Hall, Toronto.
