INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE
Mr. Gilbert Latimer en -
route from Orillia to his home
in Weston was a weekend
guest of his grandmother,
Mrs. G.L. Knight.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parker
spent Sunday in Tobermory
and were accompanied on
their trip by Mr. and Mrs.
C. Marritt of Sarnia.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mackie,
Jim, Stephen and Joanne,
London, visited Saturday
with Mrs. Mackie's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Makins.
Mr. W. Earl returned Sun-
day to her hone in London
after being the guest of her
son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Eric Earl for
the past ten days.
Miss Winnie Armstrong,
Fanshawe College, London
was with her parents and fam-
ily, Mr. and Mrs. W.D.
Armstrong, James and Julia,
R.R.3, Bayfield for the week-
end.
Dr. Allon and Mrs. Reddoch
of Whitehorse, Yukon have
been with his parents, Rev.
and Mrs. James Reddoch for
the past few days. With them
on Sunday were their son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and.
Mrs. Graham Reddoch of
Toronto and Mr. and Mrs.
William Oltman of Kincard-
ine. The family enjoyed a
fresh lobster dinner brought
from Maine.
The Bayfield Ever Young
Senior Citizens were the
guests of the Golden Radar
Club in Cl,.iton Wednesday
evening. Euchre was enjoy-
ed and the group were serv-
ed a lovely lunch. All report-
ed a good time.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baker
were Sunday evening guests
of Canon F.H. Paull and
Miss Carie Dixon.
Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Higgins,
Colin and Scott of Port Dover
spent th weekend withhis
parents Mr. and Mrs. J.B.
Higgins at "The Maples."
Mr. and Mrs. Fred LeBeau
and Mr. Alf Scotchmer visit-
ed for the weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Cluff, Rob and
Tara in London and on Satur-
day attended the wedding of
Miss Cathy Simpson to Mr.
Gary Stingle.
Mrs. Lena Ervine spent
last week in Waterloo as the
guest of her daughter-in-law
and granddaughters, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Meyer, Michelle
and Marsha. With Mrs. Erv-
ine for the weekend were her
brother-in-law and sister,
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Strong
of Tara and on Sunday they
all visited with their cusin
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Shular
in London. -
Mr. Bud Sturgeon and Miss
Barbara Davidson, London
were with Bud's family,
Mr. and Mrs. Jack B. Sturg-
eon and Andrew for the week-
end.
Mr. and Mrs. Murray
Blackie, London were week-
end guests of his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Black-
ie, Varna Road.

Mr. Norman F. Cooper,
Mount Clemens, Michigan,
was at his village residence
on Clan Gregor Square for
the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. John Cumm-
ings and family, Mount
Brydges spent the weekend
at their cottage and on
Sunday honoured her mother,
Mrs. Harold Murney on her
birthday with a family dinner.
Also joining the family were
Mrs. Murney's son-in-
law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Ron Carter of St. Marys
who were also at their cottage
for the weekend.
Sunday dinner guests with
Mr. and Mrs. Mel Jewell
and Wade were her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins, of
Goderich.
Sunday, October 12 will
be the last Service in Knox
Presbyterian church for this
season. Mr. Dwight Nelson
will be conducting the Thanks-
giving Service at 11 a.m.
Mr. Renouf W.A. Johns,
Mount Clemens, Michigan
was at his Village home for
the weekend.
Chuck Pruss, London,
joined his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Keith Pruss at their
cottage for the weekend.

Dresser who is presently
a patient in University Hospit-
al, London.
Special thanks to Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Gale who took it
upon themselves to form a
very successful Soccer Club
in Bayfield. The boys have all
enjoyed themselves this past
soccer season during their
practice sessions and their
matches with other clubs.
After defeating Clinton
team 1-0 on Saturday in Bay-
field, Mr. and Mrs. Gale took
the members to the Pop
Shoppe in. Grand Bend for a
party to wind up the season.
BAYFIELD 1 -4-H CLUB

On Wednesday, October'
1, we held our first meeting
of Bayfield 1 4-H club at the
home of Mrs. Margaret
Garrett. We chose our offic-
ers as follows, Patti Greer,
president; Diane Garrett.
vice-president; Cathy Lepp-
ington, secretary, Joanne
Chapman, press reporter.
Mrs. Garrett and Mrs. Phoen-
ix showed us the basic steps
for preparing and kneading
the dugh for bread. Our next
meeting will be at the hone
of Mrs. Phoenix on OCtober
8 at 7 p.nt.

An Olympathon was spons-
ored by the local Lions Club
in conjuction with Lions Int-
ernational on Saturday,
October 4. Fifty percent of
the money raised through the
walkathon will go towards
preparing Canadian athletes
for international competition.
at the 1976 Olympic Games.
The other fifty percent will
be used locally to sponsor
boys' and girls' activities in
the local community. Twenty
people participated, both old
and young, to make the local
Olympathon a great success.
Over $500 was 'realized
through pledges. Special
congratulations go to the
youngest walker, Jody Merner
who at the age of three
completed the ten mile walk,
and with over 75 sponsors had
more pldge money than any
of those participating. Mr. Er-
nie Hovey won the prize
for being the oldest partici-
pant. Four boys tied for being
the first to complete the ten
mile hike in just under two
and one-half hours. These
boys were Ricky Johnston,
Jeff and Dennis Merner and
Robbie Siertsema. "Brutus„”
the dog, tied also but was not
awarded a prize

COMPETITION
Design a crest for the Corporation of the
VILLAGE OF BAYFIELD
Rules:
(1) To be in the hands of the clerk -treasurer by December
1, 1975.
(2) Decision of judges to be final.
(3) All designs to remain the property of the Village of
Bayfield.
