Bayfield
planning
centennial
(by Milvena Erickson)
The regular meeting of
Bayfield Council, Monday
evening, October 6, heard
a great deal of discussion on
and interest shown in the
Centennial of the Village Inc-
orporation to be held July 1,
2, 3, and 4, 1976.
Doug Sinnamon, represent-
ing the Lios Club, was present
and said the club would
sponsor a homecoming dance
in the Arena on Saturday
night. July 3, and would also
participate in the activities
on the Agricultural Grunds.
grounds.
A Village Crest competition
was also decided upon and
further information can be
found in a display ad in this
weeks issue and the next
two issues of the local papers.
The council decided t hire
the Clinton Pipe Band to lead
the parade on Saturday after-
noon, July 3, and also set-
up a committee to arrange
the Centennial activities
throughout the weekend and
if possible to continue during
the week. All the local organ-
izations, church grups, clubs,
marinas and trailer parks will
be asked to send a represent-
ative to a meeting which will
be called in the very near
future.
In other business, Paul
Ducharme and a man from the
Kleinfeldt Group approached
cuncil with plans for a sub-
division. COuncil gave
approval in principle in acc-
ordance with the submitted
plaits, and passed a by-law
to authorize the agreement
between ire Ministry of
Housi . d the Village re:
the Senior Citizens Home.
News of Huron Hope
(by Eleanor Scott, Principal)
The month of September
has gone quickly with the
children adjusting quickly
again to familiar routines.
We welcome one new pupil,
Karl Verbeek to our school.
Rick and Brian are attend-
ing the workshop in Dash-
wood where ARC Manager,
Bob Fry is providing them
with a variety of work exp-
eriences.
Four of our students att-
ended camp this summer.
Tom and Susan had attended
previously but this was the
first time for Brian and
Larry.
Mrs. MacGregor's class
made a cake the first week of
school so that five children
who had summer birthdays
could celebrate with their
classmates. This was follow-
ed three weeks later by two
more celebrations when Tom

The "Dough -Nuts" open-
ed their meeting last week
by repeating the 4-H Pledge
and Motto with their presid-
ent Karen Talbot in charge.
The girls discussed what
was the best temperature for
rising dough; what happened
during the rising period and
tests to indicate whether the
dough had risen enough for
the first rising. Three factors
that would vary for temper-
atures for bread or rolls. Mrs.
Merner demonstrated how to
roll and shape loaves of
bread. She also showed us
how to test if the dough had
risen enough to shape into
loaves. The next meeting will
be held at the home of Mr.
Tom Penhale on Wednesday,
October 8 at 7 p.m..

Mrs. Jaques, Mrs. Mac-
Gregor and Larry's mother,
Mrs. Rowe accompanied six
of the older children to the
Western Fair. They were able
to see many of the exhibits,
eat their lunch there, and have
two rides each on the child-
ren's midway. They came
back carrying balloons and
pamphlets from a variety of
displays. Our movie this week
was about a fair and the child-
ren insisted on seeing it
twice.
Three of the younger child-
ren who did not go to the fair
were taken to ' a nearby
restaurant where they were
treated to a dish of ice cream.
Jimmy is back with us after
a short stay in the hospital.
We were glad he made such a

Reeve Zinn, chairman of the
development committee,
favoured sending the recreat-

contention that the restructur-
ing committee would have
more time to devote to this all
important report.
However, the motion was
lost when put to council.
Reeve Zinn then said that

the exhibits brought us a
number of compliments both
from the public and fair
officials. We now have the
entries displayed on the bull-
