Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Roberts,
Tom and Linda attended the
Roberts-Capstick wedding in
Hamilton.
Eric Luther, Campaign
chairman for the CNIB,
advised the Hensall and area
campaign for funds, will be
conducted during the month
of October. A door-to-door
canvass will be conducted
in Hensall and a mailing
campaign in the surrounding
area. Presently we have 79
blind people in the county
of Huron. Last year our
campaign totalled $1,005.
We have set a target of
$1,100 this year. Please sup-
port this most important proj-
ect.
Holy Communion was cel-
ebrated in the United Church
with Rev. Don Beck in charge
and Mrs. John Turkheim
at the organ. The Communion
Meditation was based on the
topic, "Together at the Table.
The choir rendered the anth-
em, "Lead me, 0 Lord."
Unit I will meet on Thursday
at 2 p.m.

Couple married 50 years ago
Mr. and Mrs, Ross Scott
of Brucefield celebrated 50
years of marriage Saturday
when they -held open house
at their home.
They were married at
"Brucefield United CHurch
on September 26, 1925 by
the late Rev, C.G. Armour.
Both are. descendants of
pioneer families in Tucker -
smith Township. Mrs. Scott is
the former Alice Rattenbury,
daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. William Rattenbury
of Brucefield, Mr. Scott is
the son of the late Mr, and.
Mrs. Andrew Scott of Bruce -
field.
Following a honeymoon
in Niagara Falls they took
up residence in the village.
'Mr. Scott continued working
garage.
Council learned that the
clerk needed a new electric
typewriter and a new calcul-
ator, and ordered a new
table at $104. He required tax
bills to be printed at A.B.
Printing, and also required
invoices so that the book-
keeping - system could be
simplified. Council granted
the clerk permission to
buy necessary equipment.
Council had d discussion on
pensions for municipal
employees and passed a by-
law naming James Hyde as
deputy Fire Chief.
Accounts amounting to
$9,435.49 were ordered paid.
The corporation of the vill-
age of Hensall will purchase
a life membership in the Hur-
on Historical Jail Society,
costing $100.00.

If a fan belt is adjusted too
tightly, there'll be strain on the
water pump bearing.
Almost every tire has "wear
bars" molded into the bottom
of the tread design; they
appear when the tread is worn
below 1/16". If you can see
there (especially two adjacent
ones) it's time to replace the
tire.

and Co„ which was establi - 'Rushcol of Victoria, B.C, They
shed by his grandfather, the
late VVilliam Scott in 1857.
After his father's death in
1926 Ross. Scott continued the
store until 1937. The Post
Office located in the store
in 1908 and Mr. Scott follow-
ed his grandfather and father
as Brucefield Postmaster until
retiring from that position in
1968 after 41 years service.
Mr. Scott's son, Kenneth,
continued as postmaster,
until giving up the Post Off-
ice in 1971, The Post office
has about 150 patrons and a
rural route of 70 patrons.
Mr. Scott established the
Ross Scott Sunoco Oil Distr-
ibuter business in 1930
later Ross Scott Limited, until
selling the firm in 1969.
. The couple have a son,
Kenneth, of Brucefield and
have eight grandchildren.
Both Mr. and Mi,.s. Scott are
in good health and continue
to be active in the comm-
unity. They are members of
Brucefield United Church.
Mr. Scott is an active mem-
ber of the Seaforth Lions
Club of which he was presid-
ent in 1945-46.
Prominent, in the masonic
order he is a past master of
Britannia Lodge No 170 A.F.
and A.M. from which he has
received his 50 year member-
ship jewel. He is a member
of the ancient and accepted
Rite of Free Masonry, the
London Chapter of Rose
Croix, Lodge Perfection
(Shriner) and the Supreme
Council of Ancient and accept-
ed masonry of Canada having
received the 33rd degree.
