(by Eileen Consitt)

Mrs. Milton Oesch in charge

letter to the Hebrews, that
there have been "A cloud of
witnesses' who have carried
the 'good news' to our day.
Mrs. Leroy O'Brien, pres-
ident, opened the business
period with prayer. Roll call
was answered by 27 members
and five visitors were pres-
ent.
Thank -you cards were read
from the Dietz family and Joan
and Wayne Beierling. The
president announced that the
skit to be presented at the
UCW presbyterial in Credit-
on on October 15 had been
arranged.
Mrs. O'Brien thanked
group III committee for
convening the Bean Festival
booth and thanked the ladies
for their contributions. Mrs.

Ontario blue grapes
now on market
The 23,000 acres of
vineyards in the Niagara
Peninsula have been
blessed wth near -perfect
growing weather this year,
with the result that the 1975
harvest of Ontario blue
dessert grapes will be
bountiful and of top quality.
Harvesting operations
are underway full swing in
the Peninsula now, and
these Ontario grown blue
grapes are available at
supermarkets across the
province. The harvest will
continue until the second
week of October when the
later -maturing vines are
picked.
Careful steps are taken
to ensure that Ontario fresh
market grapes reach the
consumer in perfect
condition. Whereas most
grapes used for
winemaking are machine
harvested, all grapes
destined for store sales are
hand picked to avoid
damage. Through an ef-
ficient distribution network
developed by the Ontario
Fresh Grape Growers'
Marketing Board, grapes
packaged in. convenient
two and four -quart baskets
are delivered to produce
counters anywhere in
Ontario less than 24 hours
after picking.
Countless studies have led
to the conclusion that
cigarette smoking is not only
harmful to the health, but
contributes to many deaths
as well. Smokers rur a
greater risk of lung cancer,
chronic bronchitis and
emphysema as well as
premature heart attacks.
