Scotchmer, London spent the
weekend with their parents,

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Heath,
Dawson Creek, are presently
holidaying with his mother,
Mr. and Mrs. Alf McLaugh-
lin and her mother, Mrs. Ella
Castle.
Mrs. George Reid, Varna is
spending a few days with her
sister, Mrs. L,B. Smith.
Mr. and Mrs. William
Burgess, Angus, visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Black-
ie on Saturday. With the
Blackie's on Sunday were
their son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Blackie,
of London.
Mr. Norman F. Cooper,
Mount Clemens, Michigan,
spent the weekend with his
wife Patricia at their Village
home on Clan Gregor Square.
Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Erickson,
Andrew, Luanne and Lydia
were their dinner guests on
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Pol-
lock, Varna, visited with Mrs.
Milton Pollock, Goshen Line,
on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rowse,
London spent last weekend
with her mother, Mrs. L.13.
Smith. Jill and Dale who had
been with their Grandma for a
week's holiday returned home
on Sunday with their parents.

Port Dover. Mrs. Carrie Rolfe
and Miss Mary Fisher of
London called on Mr. and
Mrs. Higgins at
"The Maples" while visiting
in the Village.
Mrs. Les Talbot and
daughter Cari flew to Thomp-
son, Manitoba last week to
join her' husband who has
secured a position as a weld-
er in the mines. Mrs. Talbot
will also be nursing at the
Hospital there.

ORGANIZATIONAL
MEETING
The Progressive Conservat-
ives held their organizational
meeting for Bayfield,
Goderich Township and Stan-
ley Township in the Bay-
field Municipal Building on
Thursday, September 4. with
Elmer Hayter as chairman
and Milvena Erickson as sec-
retary for the evening.
A good turnout heard sev-
eral interesting speakers;
among them were Jim Hayt-
er, of Goderich, the P.C.
candidate for the Huron
Middlesex riding in the up-
coming election, September
18; Bev Skinner, Exeter,
campaign • chairman; Lorne
Kleinstivcr, Dashwood,
chief financial chairman and
Bob McKinley, MP.
Speaking on behalf of the
three communities repres-
ented were Anson McKinley.
Warden of Huron County and
Reeve of Stanley; Gerry Ginn,
Reeve of Goderich Township
and Ed Oddieifson, Reeve of
Bayfield. Mr. Clayton Laith-
waite of Goderich was also in
attendance and spoke briefly.
Nominations for Poll
chairman were held and are
as follows, Bayfield, Jack
Merner; Goderich Township
(1) Stan Freeman; (2) Sam
Wain; (3) Frank Thompson;
(4) Garry Merner; (5) James
Lobb; for Stanley Township

The meeting was informed
of the advance polling places
which will be held in God-
erich, Clinton, Scaforth and
Exeter and Parkhill, Friday,
September 12 from 9 a.m.
to 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept-
ember 13 and Monday, Sept-
ember 15 from 12 noon to
9 p.m. both days.
The meeting was reminded
of the debate to take place in
the Exeter High School on
Thursday, September 11,
at 8 p.m. when al candi-
dates from the riding will be
in attendance; also of the
"Meet Jim Hayter Night"
to be held Saturday evening,
September 13 starting at 5:30
p.m., at the drill hall in Huron
Park. This will take the form
of a corn roast, barbecue
and Dance and there will
be no charge for this event.
The meeting then took the
form of a question and answ-
er period, followed by a social
hour at which time the ladies
served coffee, tea and donuts.
CHURCH MEETING
The Board of Management
of Trinity Anglican Church,
resumed their regular meet-
ings, Tuesday evening,
September 2 after an inter-
val of three months during
the summer. At the meeting
the board decided to order
a hydraulic closure for the
front door of the church;
set Sunday, September 28
for the Harvest Festival Ser-
vice; accepted with thanks

Philip Du Boulay as a donat-
