Zurich Citizens News, 1975-09-11, Page 3(by Mrs. Bertha McGregor) LEGION AUXILIARY The Ladies Legion Aux- iliary met in the Legion Hall on Tuesday evening. ' Mrs. Wanda McClinchey, president chaired the opening of the meeting. Zone Commander Mrs. Marguerite Thorndike, Clinton of Zone CI installed the new slate of officers for 1975-76 and also installed a new member Marion Wasson. After the installat- ion the new President, Mrs. Mona Campbell presided. Arrangements were made to cater to a wedding in September. The various com- mittees • were appointed for the corning term. Sports offic- er Mrs. Iva Reid gave a report of the forthcoming sports events, such as the Bowling Tournament. Mrs. Campbell, president, presented Mrs. Wayne Beierling (nee Joan Allan) with a gift. The Myst- ery prize was won by Marion Wasson and the "guessing prize" was won by Mrs. Jean Munn. Bingo was played followed by refresh- ments. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Wheeler of Detroit visited recently with their aunt and uncle, Mr, and Mrs. Edgar Munn and attended the Gooding -Cunningham wedd- ing. Miss Susan Luther won a victory at Toronto Exhibition when she rode Senator Firefly to victory twice in the CNE horse show against some of the top horses in south- western Ontario. "Congrat- ulations Susan." Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Chap- man spent the weekend visiting with their scan -in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Don MacLaren. Jodi and Brooke in Oakville. Cpl. Doug Wein, RCMP, Mrs. Wein and David of Whitby, visited over the week- end with Mr. and Mrs. Har- old Parker. Miss Dorothy Farquhar, of Toronto, was a weekend visitor with her mother, Mrs. Emma Farquhar. LODGE RE -OPENS Amber Rebekah Lodge re -opened for the fall term on Wednesday evening with the Noble, Grand Mrs. Marg- aret Consitt presiding assist- ed by the Vice Grand, Mrs. Bertha MacGregor, who gave a report of the visiting and cards sent during the holid- ays: The secretary, Mrs• Leona Parke read the District Deputy's Report, Mrs. Jean Brydge, Brussels, for the past year. Cards of thanks were rec- eived from Sisters Mrs. Ruby Ball and Mrs. Dorothy Beat- on, Mrs.. Irene Harnack, Goderich, District Deputy President for the coming year will install the officers on Wednesday, October 1, Arrangements were made to put a booth in at Mrs. Walker's sale. Sisters Mrs, Irene Blackwell P.N.G and Mrs. Aldeen Volland Jr., P.N.G., who attended the Rebekah Assembly in Toronto in June gave a detailed rep- ort of the Sessions they att- ended. Mrs. Olga Chipchasc R.S.N.G. reported attending 0 reception for Mrs. sheIcn Sheppard, Ontario Assembly President in North Bay. Following the meeting a "Pot Luck Lunch" was enjoyed by all. Miss Debbie Gooding R.N. of London visited recently with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Munn. - Miss Joan Goddard has taken up residence at Trenton College. in Peterboro where she will reside for the corning term. 115TH ANNIVERSARY Rev Don Beck conducted ,the 115th anniversary service in Chisclhurst Church on Sunday, which was largely attended by members, form- er members and friends. The church was decorated with gladioli throughout. Rev. Harold Currie, former minister was the guest speak- er, the text was from Act II, the sermon subject was "Celebrating, What?" The guest soloist Miss Mar- ion Holley, of Winnipeg sang "Is There to he a 1'o- morro v?" The 1-iuronia choir sang "Standing on the Prom- ises." Contemplation" and "O Worship the King" accompanied by Mrs. Mary Moffatt and directed by Mrs. Marion Mac('affrcy. Miss Adios ac•companied during tl'ie service. Guests were pres- ented with a history of the church by Stewart Brister. Following the service a social hour was enjoyed and old acquaintenances renewed and refreshments served to all. Rev. Wilfred Jarvis con- ducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sun- day at 9 a.m. Service will be held at the hour of 9 a.m. during September. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Reed, Mr. and Mrs. Ian Reed, Miss- issauga, Mrs. Laura Hubbert, Toronto spent the weekend here with Mr. and Mrs. Roy MacDonald, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Sararus and visited their mother Mrs. E. Sararas. Mr. Earl Campbell who recently underwent surgery in St. Joseph's Hospital, Lnndon returned to his home un Friday. Mrs. Harry Horton who has been a patient in South Huron Hospito!. Exeter for the past several months ret- urned to her home this week. Mr.. Jerry McClinchey of Brantford spent the weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs Rigal. Mc•ClincheN.
